[opensuse] dovecot broken in leap 42.1

Having upgraded to leap 42.1 about a week ago, everything seemed fine. Yesterday, however, I noticed that things were not happening with my mail server (dovecot 2.2). Checking the status using systemctl, I get the following error: imap-login: Error: SSL: Stacked error: error:0608308E:digital envelope routines:EVP_PKEY_get1_EC_KEY:expecting a ec key imap-login: Fatal: Can't load ssl_cert: error:0906D06C:PEM routines:PEM_read_bio:no start line master: Error: service(imap-login): command startup failed, throttling for 2 secs As it was working happily at one stage, I can only guess that it was broken by an update, at some stage. Does anyone know how to fix it please? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Thanks for your help and suggestions. [opensuse] 13.2 to 42.1 upgrade woes

Hi We tried the network install but it does not work: it will not connect to our wifi. We tried dhcp and manual and checked the password and even looked up what ESSID meant. The DVD worked after first setting up the network, this time the password was accepted. The upgrade leaves you with a blank kde. None of our configuration was retained. Do we have to start again? Hello all together. I am in a search of a module that I previously used. In KDE4 there was a neat and useful settings module for wacom. It seems to be gone or it has been renamed. It does not appear in settings. My bamboo is recognized and works. But I was looking for the module that normally appeared in "settings - input devices" for defining buttons etc. . - Is this my blindness (which is of course always possible, so please feel free to guide the blind man) - or is this because it is still not done, - or has it been suppressed? - or a bug? [opensuse] USB nic update

The ASUS N13 wireless usb nic is what I have been using for some time as it was listed on the compatibility list. Well, maybe they were a bit too enthusiastic about it. My experience has been that it isn't ready for prime time. I have tried these devices on 2 different OS 13.1 puters, one old single core and a newer I5 system. Symptoms are intermittent loss of network connectivity requiring a networking reset. The older hardware would need constant resets, sometimes as often as every few minutes whereas the newer box might run for as much as a day... not often, though. Anyway, it finally got on my last nerve and I bought a pci-e wireless nic, a Startech.com PEX300WN2X2 which was advertised to work well with linux. It does, so far. My reason for using the usb nic was because this box is a mini-itx with only one pci-e expansion slot and I originally thought I would need better-than-mobo graphics. Not. So, if anyone wants to try their luck with wireless usb and linux, I have 2 and take paypal. Hi - I am trying to install the i586 version of opensuse 13.2 on a system and I am getting a complaint that it cannot find the ralink-firmware in order to set up my wireless card. I am given the "helpful" suggestion that I need to get an add-on package first. Any ideas which/where I can find this gem? Thanks in advance... [opensuse] Anyone installed openSUSE on an ASUS Zenbook UX305?

I'm thinking of getting an ASUS ZenBook UX305 for my wife. It comes with Windows 10 preloaded, but we would prefer to put openSUSE on it instead. Has anyone tried this? Successful? Any gotchas to look out for? I read a review <http://opensource.com/life/15/8/beautiful-super-thin-laptop-makes-fedora-sh…> which sounds very optimistic, but he couldn't boot the machine from a USB stick with installation media, even when Secure Boot was disabled. [opensuse] why can I not rename/mv a file when copy+remove works ?

This is mind boggling, to me anyway - on a very stable system, quite backlevel, I have some procedures/Makefiles that are run daily. I'm pretty certain noone has changed anything there for months or even years. A week ago, the following started complaining about lack of permissions: create tempfile in /tmp fill up tempfile with stuff move tempfile to destination (same filesystem, matching uids) - permission denied. Using strace, I see that it is a call to rename() that fails. Then I tried this instead: create tempfile in /tmp fill up tempfile with stuff copy tempfile to destination (same filesystem) remove tempfile Works fine. Although Win2K was deemed the "professional" version, the one with durable future was the fusion of the two lines. Now opensuse 13.2 was already far more professional technologically than 98 (or 2k) ever was, but opensuse development speed and major version lifetime was sometimes a bit a stress in the very conservative world of business. So it was decided to create a version that fusions both worlds and takes advantage of both worlds. As Leap got also a new kernel, we can even speak of "cherry picking" so I think you have very good arguments for having chosen 13.2 at the time and to defend the choice of leap today. [opensuse] How to install package updates via YaST2?

System: Stock openSUSE-13.1 x86_64 I have been installing openSUSE-13.1 system updates via YOU for some time now. However, recently I've noticed that the system updates popup (whatever it is called) has been listing another update that never gets listed in any of the YOU listings (since, apparently, it is not part of any of the update patches). Listing out the updates via "zypper list-updates" shows the extra update. Also, using the YaST2 "Software Management" module, I am able to find the package and verify that there is an update available (it shows both the installed and the available versions). However, I have not been able to figure out how to install it via any of the YaST2 modules. I know it can be installed via zypper, and I may resort to that. It just bugs me that I can not figure out how to install it via YaST (if, indeed, there is a way!). Which I haven't found how to run Linux on ... [opensuse] LEAP 42.1 Problems with aaa_ package and Eclipse

Hello! Some days ago there was an update in the aaa_ packages. This update causes Eclipse Mars 4.5.1 no longer able to open network-connections (for updates, installing packages etc.). I have now rolled back to the original rolled out with Leap which solved those problems. I liked to report the bug to https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/ , but there is no Leap 42.1 product available to be selected. Hope, somebody can help out here. Does anyone know if zypper in Leap supports ZYPP_MULTICURL=0 ? I ask because I am trying to update a system where I have needed this in the past, and I think it looks like it is exhibiting the same behavior as when this option is not used. Hi all, As I mentioned a week or so ago, I installed Leap/KDE on Lenovo G505. I could hardly wait Leap, because I had to make too much compromise with 13.2, so I hoped things can only get better. Well, they did not. The installation went flawlessly, but then I tried to use the machine, and there were several severe problems. Not with the look of the desktop, it is mainly a matter of taste - but I admit it can also has an effect on usage. The nerve-cracking behavior of KWallet can somehow be tamed. But the continuous crashes of LibreOffice was showstopping. I uninstalled, the installed 5.0.3 - get the same crash. Looks like starting Writer, Calc, etc made the system log out. The common start menu of Libre worked, but the individual parts did not. Finally I reinstalled Leap. The Libre complained that somebody (that is me) from the previous installation edited something. So I deleted libreoffice from /home/.local. I removed my earlier persona, but did not remove crashes. So I considered giving a try to Linux Mint 17.2 with MATE. Could not install it. ( I disabled UEFI and Secure boot). Ubuntu 15.04 installed like a charm and upgraded to 15.10 - with kernel 4.2. I did not like it, could not import my client.ovpn file, and found ridiculous that it has no scanner support per se. So I installed Kubuntu 15.10 - and all things work. I got used to Suse - started with 9.1, and want to go back after changing this laptop. The reason I wrote this long text is that I am absolutely lost in the reasons of crashes. Nobody tells Libre5 crashes on Leap - neither on the libreoffice list. So I thought the mistake is on my side. And yet, *buntus with 4.2 kernel work. Do you have an idea what is wrong with this Leap install? Please let me share a final thought in a different topic. I am eager what Suse guys think of the future of this distro. I mean Leap came out only in 64 bit version. I think there are thousands of elder 32 bit machines still working. The other day I met one not accepting even 13.2 with ext4 filesystems. They will look after another distro when they want some more recent system. If you did install Tumbleweed from the current snapshot, you did install kernel 4.3. If you did have problems with both that indicates that your machine has no problem to install these kernels at all but that there is probably a totally other issue. Gigabyte Mainboards are not really to be called Linux friendly. Sometimes they have hickups. For what is you problem, I do not understand what you say. What is exactly the "login screen" for you? Do you have more than one user, do you have automated login and it blocks while loading plasma? When you press Escape during the loading process, do you see any error message? What does this contradict what i did say: nothing. What this says about Gigabyte and Linux? Nothing. Gigabyte had recently several main-boards with incompatibility of the USB3 Chipset and some severe UEFI trouble. You need to switch on IOMMU and still you will get a continuous spamming of the kernel while booting anyway. The USB3 will not function correctly anyway. The 32bit version of Linux is not hit by this, so if you are using Gigabyte and 32 bit, you personal experience do not join anything to the post you are referring to. Especially as Leap exists only for 64. Contacted by me about the issue Gigabyte responded that they do not see any issue because "Windows works fine" and they do not support Linux in any way. (In other words: we do not give a FF) AND they are not new in recent times to abandon one MB revision over an other with half-baken UEFI BIOS without any update (hanging in beta and giving only AGESA updates when they have to because of exploits, lacking translations...a mess). I am talking about the AMD AM3+ platform, if you are Intel YMMV, although I doubt it. So my advice (by personal experience and if you google about gigabyte, linux, problem you will find) I would rather use Biostar or Asus with Linux. Ashrok by itself was not bad but had in my case build in "vista" specific crapware that makes that in the end "you get what you pay for" so better Asus. Oh, with 5 mainboards used personally only the 939 boards and AM2 where still of quality. Breakages have been much more frequent than expected. So fare about "ultra durable" claims. If you then have some advice to give to our friend in trouble here, please go ahead. All other things would be "hijacking a thread" that "may" still be useful should the O.P. come back here. [opensuse] RAID1 13.2 clone via rsync could not find /dev/mdX root device

CPU is Intel Haswell on B85 chipset. Multiboot RAID1 installation started with 13.1 on /dev/md1, 11.4 on /dev/md2, and 13.2 on /dev/md3. Wishing to test a DVD media upgrade from 32 bit to 64, booted to 13.1, I umounted 11.4 (on EXT3), reformatted md2 EXT4, remounted md2, then rsync'd from 13.2 on md3 to the freshly formatted md2. Next I adjusted what was the 11.4 grub stanza on /dev/sda1 to do the new 13.2 on md2, and fstab on md2. When I tried to boot md2, I always got a Dracut emergency shell reporting [/dev/md2|LABEL=10os13264] root device does not exist. After a few repeats, I booted the original 13.2 on md3, chrooted into the new 13.2 on md2, changed dracut's configs to hostonly="no" and hostonly_cmdline="no", ran dracut, and tried booting 13.2 on md2 again, with identical result, except taking 6+ seconds instead of 4+ seconds to reach the fail point due to the monstrously larger non-hostonly initrd. The dracut shell seems to be produce a runaround trying to mount anything to copy rdsosreport.txt to. It has no fdisk to report anything about partitioning. /dev/md* does not exist. 'systemctl reboot' apparently won't complete, as it's trying to undo things that it failed to do in the first place. CAD doesn't do anything. 'exit' doesn't cause reboot either. Finally I tried another chroot initrd build, this time with hostonly='no', and with add_drivers+="raid1 md_mod". It works, but I don't understand why the explicit addition of the two extra modules to the initrd was required, or why the failure with the comprehensive hostonly=no initrd. Hello, Trying to install openSUSE Tumbleweed from the 20151111 i586 snapshot, I get an error that common-base-i386.tar.xz is not found on the medium. Examining the contents of ~/images/ I note all the files are x86_64. I also downloaded 20151113, and it has the same issue. Am I doing something wrong, or was there an error made while compiling the snapshot? If the file is compromised, gpg --verify will reveal it. In Leap/Plasma5, checking for software updates is enabled by default. When clicking on SoftwareUpdates->SoftwareUpdatesSettings, the Check Interval can be set to Daily, Weekly or Monthly. But I don't see where it can be disabled. Call me silly, but such a setting (e.g., Never) would logically be part of these settings. But is it set somewhere else? On my test desktop, the taskbar (bottom of the screen) disappeared as did the desktop. I minimized the current windows, and ended up with a black screen. When using YaST Software Management in ncurses mode, I can select Filter to list packages by repository, such as everything in Packman. "Houston we have a problem!" - I downloaded the ISO for the i586 version of Tumbleweed and the installation failed due to missing image files. I checked the installation DVD and sure enough, the image files were all labeled for x64 versions. Why? That obviously was not what the image installation scripts were looking for since I got a complaint, loud and clear, that the image files it was looking for were not to be found on the DVD! Why isn't there an i586 version of Leap 42.1? All I get when following the links for installing Leap is for x64 versions and I need to download an OpenSuSE OS for an older system with x32 bit architecture? Why are there no links from the main openSuSE home page for finding and downloading earlier versions of OpenSuSE? 13.2, 13.1 etc? I had to spend quite a bit of time searching the internet before locating the repositories! Shouldn't this be easier for users to discover? OpenSuSE used to give out links to older releases from their main download web pages, why has this practice been discontinued? I encountered a display problem during the installation process which resulted in my screen becoming garbage and unreadable. After many hours of Google searches I discovered that there is a magic option - nomodeset which prevents the installation scripts from trying to reset the video card display settings. Why isn't this option presented as one of the kernel (or perhaps as some other) option that can be set from the installation setup screen by simply checking it? Having such hidden parameters makes it very difficult for users to find a solution to their installation problems, or even to simply to remember that such parameters exist! GUI's should act as a guide to help users find a solution to problems, not create them! IMHO of course.... The first step of upgrading to 13.2 worked perfectly. No issues at all. [opensuse] Leap42 - do Firefox and Thunderbird not share certificates?

This is probably not Leap specific, but I thought at least Firefox and Thunderbird would be sharing certificates? (I'm guessing Chrome and Opera will certainly have their own, separate certificate storage) On Leap, I installed a new root certificate from Firefox. I expected Thunderbird to pick this up too, but it didn't. Am I expecting too much? [opensuse] How to tell wicked to reconnect to a wifi network?

Hi, Is there a way to tell wicked to automatically reconnect to the wifi network in case the wifi is lost? I'm using wicked to manage a text-only system (ARM based) and the only way to reconnect is to stop and start manually the wicked service. Hi, This is how it displays: <http://susepaste.org/89482601> it doesn't look right, somehow. But I don't know where to look. Changing the default font in Th settings does nothing. The desktop apparently uses "Sans", whatever that is, but the preview there doesn't match what I see in Th. either. I have changed there to "Luxi Sans", to see if Th changes. Hello: I have copied an openSUSE 13.1 installation from a hard disk (dev/sdb2) to another one (/dev/sda2). After this on the new drive I changed /etc/fstab, /boot/grub/device.map and /boot/grub/menu.lst: replaced all old drive references with new drive references using uuids (I use grub1 legacy, not grub2).Then I chrooted to the new drive as: mount /dev/sda /mnt mount -B /sys /mnt/sys mount -B /dev /mnt/dev mount -B /proc /mnt/proc chroot /mnt Now I would like to make a new initrd. The logic is for me not to overload the eye, because people capture (if ever) max. two things at a time. (in order not to "favor" by stochastic one pathway over the other (tumbleweed or leap) one can place a "back to front-page link" in the bottom to bring the reader back to the original choice. In allowing at a glance to see 13.2, leap, tumbleweed with what versions they offer (a bit like distrowatch). All below is my personal opinion and does not want to be anything else. One note to start: it appears that this is the first time you approach this distribution, in order to have more pertinent answers you may be helpful in these cases to tell us a little bit more about yourself and your skills eg. are you proficient in using Linux, do you come instead from the "Windows-World" or are you a "Mac'er". And of course what are you main usages of your PC (do you code, just work office, just want to get an impression etc.) I will try to give you use cases and I suppose in the following chapter that you do not have a great amount of Linux experience, it is the absolute first time that you use linux or you do have used KDE4 up to now: In this case currently opensuse 13.2 is for you one of the best solutions, especially if you will choose to have the KDE graphical desktop environment Why? With 13.2 the KDE environment has become to a greater stability, it is "end-of-life" but very stable. Although you will be told "it does not receive attention" any more, it will get security fixes and will receive no new features. This is a greater advantage for a beginner as it also makes KDE in this edition very stable and calm. You just use it, that's it. With leap you will get a new kernel and a change of KDE version Plasma 5 and software collection kde5 (where the respective applications are already migrated). This will give you a greater chance of using very recent hardware without quirks, it will also give you all the advantages of the progression of systemd and btrfs (if you choose to use it). I will be also useful if you start from the scratch and do not wish to have to do a lot of migration in one year or so. As a lot of applications of KDE have already be migrated you will go on with your stable system and you will receive upgrades of the applications every minor version number (that is 42.2 ecc). Every greater version number you will receive an "engine change", that is greater modifications (Kernel ecc). If you choose the gnome environment, IMO it will probably be a better to use leap. Gnome will be the same in both cases but you get the newer kernel. Next case: if you have experience with Linux, can repair from time to time minor issues and want the "latest and greatest" with all related risks and reasonable guaranties you will choose Tumbleweed instead. To go boldly where "no penguin has gone before" is of course always a minor risk. There is a great effort to give you a perfect system but a rolling release by definition is "bleeding edge", very delightful if you want to see the future coming in but also a risk that - for your special personal use case and hardware - you *may* run into a incompatibility. That is where your skills come to kick in. In the (not so common) case that you encounter a problem after an update of tumbleweed you will be easy going if you have skills in debuging the situation and to do minor tasks like to create a yast2log or to edit a fstab or similar. You will be of course assisted in case by the members of the community but it is expected that if you use tumbleweed you know already what you are doing in Linux and especially with opensuse. The advantages: you will get the fast-forward of development of KDE. Thus, if you want to use KDE5 it will probably the most indicated experience until Leap 42.2 is out, where probably the shortcomings of the still very new KDE5 desktop will be minor. You may ask yourself why the split. Well first it may be a try to see which community will gather more people. But more importantly I think it is a stabilization model with probably the aim to propose a SUSE SLES/SLE with the KDE desktop. Very similar as a drinking water filter that is using troubled water and let it filer through rocks becoming ever more fine grained. as this desktop environment would give SUSE a way of being nearly alone in the market (where in the European market of OSS, in public administration, the KDE environment may have a greater acceptance especially in the important market of Germany). But the latter is my very personal conclusion, not anything you find written anywhere. So, long story short, to "just have a look", to work smoothly and enter in the stable line, coming from KDE4: stay currently with KDE4 and wait for Leap 42.2. Instead if you step in and want a stable solution: take leap. Last: if you have experience and want to get the full kick of accelerated development especially with probably one of the the most if not "the" most advanced KDE distribution on the market, you take tumbleweed.
