Does anyone know of anything that works? (I know I can use thunderbird, I'm just trying to get the gmail web interface to work.) Anyway, I found "penango" which is a firefox extension for doing s/mime for gmail/firefox, but I've installed it and I can't tell that penango is doing anything at all. [opensuse] dbus problem with gnome apps under LXDE

12.1, LXDE Hi everyone I like the gedit editor but it will not launch unless I issue: export $(dbus-launch) before running it. Any ideas to get around the dbus stuff? Or, does anyone know a gui editor which colour codes scripts which will run without dbus? Thanks. [opensuse] Laptop screen goes dark during booting.

Hello I am newbie to Opensuse Linux operating system. I have installed opensuse os in my computer. But while booting laptop back light gets turn off. This problem can be solved by 'nomodeset' command in boot option. But this is giving a very bad resolution . I tried setting i915.modeset=1 in boot option. But for that also screen went dark . My computer configurations are the following. Opensuse 12.1 (64bit) Laptop model- Acer4736z Graphics/video memory - Intel GMA 4500M Please tell me the every step to solve the problem. Thanking you. Running find against any NFS mounted filesystem produces errors of the kind: " find: WARNING: Hard link count is wrong for `/<nfs mount point/' (saw only st_nlink=2 but we already saw 0 subdirectories): this may be a bug in your file system driver. Automatically turning on find's -noleaf option. Earlier results may have failed to include directories that should have been searched. " This occurs when using the latest kernel and all other updated from the Tumbleweed repo. Is anyone seeing this as well? [opensuse] Firewall blocking mpd server

Hi, I'm using openSUSE 12.1 and KDE 4.8.4 on both my desktop machine and my laptop (a Dell Insiron 1525). On my desktop machine I am running mpd (Music Player Daemon) which acts as a server to various mpd client programs. I use gmpc (Gnome Music Player Client) in the GUI, and mpc on the command line. I can play music on the desktop machine. What I want to do is run gmpc on my laptop, so that I can control the music stream from that machine. It works when I disable the firewall on the desktop machine, so what I'm trying to find out is how to make the necessary hole in the firewall. The mpd server listens on port 6600. In YaST:Firewall Configuration:Allowed Services I have enabled rsync server and ssh (for reasons unrelated to this problem). In Custom Rules, I have created an entry as follows Source network: 192.168.1.20 (the laptop's LAN address) Protocol: TCP Destination port: 6600 Source port: 6600 When re-enable the firewall, the gmpc client on the laptop is unable to connect to the mpd server. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I could post the mpd.conf files if anyone thought that would help, though I think the problem is in the firewall, as the connection works with the firewall off. Did something change lately? kernel: 3.1.10-3.1.10-54-pae --- Kernel Builds for openSUSE-12.1 (standard) Hibernating (or trying to) from within KDE4 does only lock the screen. Using pm_hibernation does nothing at all. [opensuse] About the synaptiks and keyboard settings...

Hi, My mail to, and incoming from opensuse help list was shut off for some days, but now it seems to work again.. :-) So i try again to react at the question of Roger Oberholtzer few days ago: to activate the automatic touchpad shut-off, while using keyboard: startermenu> system> configuration> synaptiks. This activates these few options to be accessed from the systemtray. It can als be set to startup at logon. You should experiment with the time the pad should become active. When the pad becomes active to soon, the cursor becomes the arrow, which means typing continues where the arrow is at that moment, and inserts text there... absolutely the most annoying from a tp. I have set it to 2 sec's, which is the most convenient for me. That means that the pad is inaccessible before that time is passed... I think there is no solution thinkable that would be better than this approach, when one wants to use the pad. For mouse users, they can shut off the pad completely when a mouse is plugged in. -- Have a nice day.. Oddball.
