Certainly not. It was probably removed from that list to encourage people to use the half-baked opensouece driver. However, the repository can be found here: http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_package_repositories#NVIDIA_drivers If you need help adding it let me know. [opensuse] zypper refuses to update some software

I switched from zypper dup to sypper up a few months ago, and lately I've been getting a long list of packages that won't be updated. Some of them have been in this message for weeks (I update a couple of times a week), and look pretty important to me. I have such a really long list during zypper update as well. I checked almost every packet in that "will NOT be installed" list; these are all packages from other OBS repositories or packman where I deliberately did not switch to them, but use the original package from 11.4 resp. 11.4 update repository. E.g., I use the repository openSUSE:/Tools/openSUSE_11.4/ to get OBS. It has a more current apache2 than the one in the 11.4 update repository. So, with each zypper up I get told that a whole bunch of apache2 packages will not get installed. Well, I know that: After all I decided that I won't switch wholeheartedly to openSUSE-Tools, but use that repo just for obs and not for apache2 and haveged. Packman is similar; I want it only for audio/video and not for the rest of packages that they provide. What I would really like to have: A zypper or zypp.conf option "don't list non-updateable packages caused by irrelevant vendor changes" in the "will NOT be installed" list at zypper update. Irrelevant here means: The package would change vendor and all its dependencies could be installed. Then the admin probably didn't install it by choice. As a further example, a relevant change that should be still listed: A package cannot be updated because one of its dependencies would have to change vendor to do the update. That's of interest, since here admin actions are probably needed. Currently, I have to do the dependency analysis to distinguish these two cases myself, and also haven't yet found good tools in the zypper framework that tells me concisely "why could something not be installed". [opensuse] tumbleweed dup wants to downgrade packages

Hi, I have been using Tumbleweed for months now, but I haven't updated in the last few weeks. Today, after zypper ref, zypper dup --from Tumbleweed, besides all the packages which need upgrade, and few changing vendor to Tumbleweed, 89 were marked for downgrade??? It shows 143 packages to upgrade. at the same time zypper up shows 168 packages to upgrade - much more than tumbleweed. I usually change my view setting to show unread only and as i read them they disappear from view (unlike kmai1 where they stayed in view). [opensuse] Prblem with 'recently used'

I'm running KDE4.7 out of Factory but this was in 4.6 as well If I start a program from the kickoff menu it appears afterwards in the 'recently used', But only for that session. If I log off and back on, the items from the previous session are gone. What's there is a collection from back when.... Oh, and its only the programs. The recently used documents part works fine. I'm resuming that this is maintained in memory for the session and written to disk on log off. But that doesn't seem to happen. Hello, I have a new hard drive that I just put on an old pc. I am experimenting around with things, and this is the sequence of what has happened. - first, I installed suse 11.4 and ran it ok for a few days. Had some problems with the monitor and networking. - I installed windows xp in place of suse 11.4, over-writing the hard drive with windows xp files. I needed to check some things. - I reinstalled suse 11.4 and again it ran ok once. On the install I wiped over completely all the windows xp files (using the suse installation utility) - the next day I brought my computer to a tech store to purchase a new motherboard. Before the purchase, we turned it on to boot up to suse 11.4 from the hard drive, and it would not boot up. It said "error loading boot system" or something like that. It did not make it anywhere even near loading anything from the hard drive, as if the hard drive failed. This was only the 2nd time that I powered up the pc after re-installing suse 11.4. - I installed the new motherboard (to get more memory) and again tried to boot from the hard drive, and it would not boot from the hard drive - I booted from the cd and went to re-install suse completely again. It ran through the whole setup sequence and did not indicate any errors. I did a complete re-install from the beginning. It performed the initial re-boot as part of the install sequence and brought up KDE. There was a problem with my video driver or something, as my screen only showed a series of horizontal lines of alternating green white and black colors. There was nothing readable. - I did a ctrl-alt-f2 and brought up the terminal window, but I didn't really know what to do from there because I am not really familiar with the commands. At this point I thought my only problem was the video driver. - I powered off the pc. - later I tried to boot up again, and again I got the same error as before "error loading boot system" and it did not get close to loading linux at all. That is the way it is now when I try to boot up from the hard drive. - I put in the install disk again and went to "rescue system". I typed in "root" as the login with a blank password, and got a terminal command. That is where I am now. I can get into the rescue system but not much else. I can't imagine that my hard drive has failed, as it is only 1 week old. I think that when I installed windows xp on it, microsoft did something to prevent me from installing another system over the top of xp, and now I can't access anything. I remember on the setup having 3 partitions, as swap, a root, and a home. I had the max size on all 3, I think they were 2gb, 20gb, and 465gb or something like that. I have a 500gb drive. So, can someone help me first of all to get my directories back? I only know enough to get into the rescue system. I don't know the commands to use from the rescue system, or what to do from there. If I need to provide any more information, please tell me what commands I need to use to find it out. Thanks in advance! Hi all mmmm kmail2 is proving fun (or not). Anyone know the resolutions to these ? 1. Always having to enter a password for Ankonadi Resource to access kwallet. (every time i log in) 2.
