[opensuse] libreoffice won't open files

I had a strange experience last night - libreoffice won't open files. That is File/Open doesn't bring up a dialog box. File/New works and so does using a filename on the command line when starting libreoffice. Does anybody know what this might be? It's on 11.3, standard repository. I installed a system update the day before but I don't remember whether there was anything for libreoffice. [opensuse] KMix locking up recently

Anyone having an issue recently (~last week..) where the kmix widget in the task bar in kde (V4.6.00) locks up - can't change volume with multimedia keys, or mute etc. Think there may have been a recent update...? [opensuse] Installing Airtime 1.9.0 on openSUSE

Hi Listmates, Anyone has tried installing Airtime 1.9.0 (RC2) on openSUSE? http://wiki.sourcefabric.org/display/CC/Manual+Install I can not find some dependency packages on OBS needed to install Airtime on openSUSE, at least there are (mostly ocaml modules): libsoundtouch-ocaml libvorbis-ocaml-dev libtaglib-ocaml libao-ocaml libmad-ocaml libcamomile-ocaml-dev Btw, I can not also find the tar ball version (source code) of those packages, where should i go to get them so i can compile them manually? #Paul: Has any one on Sourcefabric tried to install Airtime on openSUSE / Fedora? and whout do you suggest about it? After the exchange of my hd0 hard-disk I had to remove manually the existence of the old drive. I remember that I used midnight commander to find all places that mentioned the old drive. The new drive is working properly but at boot or in case I install the latest kernel I get the message: Perl-Bootloader: 2011-08-05 17:38:09 ERROR: GRUB::GrubDev2UnixDev: did not find a match for hd0 in the device map Is there an automatic method to get rid of this message? [opensuse] Does YAST's failure to mount Vista/W7 shares 'ro' by default cause problems with BCD on dual-boot boxes?

All, I have a dual-boot box with 11.4/vista where vista seems to lose the ability to boot regularly (I know its' vista... but read on). Part of the issue seems to center around the way vista and w7 BCD bootmgr use disk signatures as validation of the boot environment during startup. I suspect any change to disk content between windows boots results in boot failure. The vista fail to boot happens regularly requiring the familiar dvd boot and repair. Looking at the fstab defaults for the normal opensuse /windows/C mount point, I was surprised to find that the partition is NOT mounted ro by default. The default fstab entry is: /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD6400BEVT-00A0RT0_WD-WX40A9996688-part2 /windows/C ntfs-3g users,gid=users,fmask=133,dmask=022,locale=en_US.UTF-8 0 0 I don't know. Maybe the ntfs-3g mount type includes a default 'ro' option, but I've changed the mount to explicitly include ro: /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD6400BEVT-00A0RT0_WD-WX40A9996688-part2 /windows/C ntfs-3g users,gid=users,fmask=133,dmask=022,locale=en_US.UTF-8,ro 0 0 Could failing to explicitly mount the ntfs-3g share ro cause changes that impact the disk signature of the vista/w7 BCD bootmgr that render windows unable to boot? I don't know. That's why I'm putting this out to the folks that know more about the mount defaults to think about. If it is possible, then the simple inclusion of an explicit 'ro' option mounting windows shares may be warranted. I don't know if it will fix it, or make a difference, but something is causing win boot problems on dual-boot boxes with the windows BCD and bootmgr. What say the experts? -- David C. [opensuse] Panel color

When I installed v11.4/KDE on this system some weeks ago, its background was a tannish grey with a kind of grey horizontal barberpole effect, as I remember, with black lettering. I do not remember setting a specific color, and I am unable to find a setting in Configure Desktop/Personal Settings (formerly System Settings). Some days afterward, I noticed that the background has become a dark grey (still with black characters), so that reading te lettering was very difficult or impossible; only the presence of icons makes this panel useful. I have no idea what caused the change. Nothing else on the desktop has a black background. A few days later, the colors returned to their original state, but another few days later became black again. You can see what this looks like at <ftp.hashkedim.com/pub/panel1.png>. I have a second panel at the top of the screen which is, if anything, in worse condition: most of the vertical height of the "barbarpole is overlaid with a black strip, so that panel has become totally useless. [opensuse] lost window frames in Xfce

For some reason I lost the window frames in Xfce and now all windows appear on a single workspace. Mouse works, but not the keyboard. It reminds me of the old problem that used to happen in Compiz. [opensuse] Post to Mailing List via menu launches browser

HI When trying to post an email to this mailing list via kmail2 "Message/Mailing List/Post new message" kmail2 launches my browser to compose/send the email instead of kmail2? Does anyone know if this is a config option? Right clicking on the mailing list folder doesn't give you a "post to mailing list" option like kmail1. [opensuse] [SOLVED] Flash not working in Firefox

For the record: The Flash plugin was not working in Firefox in both my desktop (64b) and laptop (32b), but it was working fine in Chromium. I finally had time to troubleshoot it and I saw in about:plugins that I had 2 Shockwave Flash plugins installed. One was 9.something and the other the current 10.3 r181. The culprit was the package 'swfdec-mozilla' which I had installed in addition to 'flash-player' and 'flash-player-kde4'. After deleting 'swfdec-mozilla' and 'swfdec', Flash now works fine in Firefox. -- Carlos F Lange -- Recursive: Adj.
