[opensuse] xfs in openSUSE 11.2 vs. in 10.3

I have a user reporting that when they format xfs disks under openSUSE 11.2, they cannot use them on openSUSE 10.3. Could there be some default in 11.2 that is not compatible with whatever the defaults were in 10.3? I am trying to get more details and to see if this can be recreated locally. Any other xfs users out there who move disks between openSUSE releases? [opensuse] PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php5/extensions/intl.so'

hello there ;-) few days ago i installed the newest opensuse 11.4 32bit system and all is working really fine. except when starting apache or doing a php -v on the CLI i receive the following error -> php -v PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php5/extensions/intl.so' - /usr/lib/php5/extensions/intl.so: undefined symbol: grapheme_extract_count_iter in Unknown on line 0 i know this bug has been reported earlier and i found quite a few results in google. i even found one result where the problem was fixed and updated in an additional opensuse repository -> http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_package_repositories#Apache_PHP_modules the repository with the fix is the following -> http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/php/openSUSE_11.4/ so ... i added this repository via YAST to the repositories in my system without any problems but whenever i do a system update via YAST i don't receive new fixes and patches from the newly added repository! if i directly browse to the /i586 folder in the repository i see all the PHP updates with version 5.3.6 http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/php/openSUSE_11.4/i586/ but my system still has PHP version 5.3.5 installed and somehow doesn't want to update from the newly added repository for the apache php modules so ... i just double checked and the repository is enabled in YAST ... but I still don't receive updates from there ;-) well ... what am i missing? what am i doing wrong? i really would like to update to the new apache php modules, to get rid of that php '/usr/lib/php5/extensions/intl.so' warning, but somehow that doesn't seem to work ;-( any help or hint would be highly appreciated!!! thanks a million & all the best regards becki -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help(a)opensuse.org

(That's one of the drawbacks of top postings... ;-) If it's a remark for Marc, you make a very important point. Marc should set RUN_PARALLEL to "no" in /etc/sysconfig/boot. Many problems during boot or shutdown are cured by that; dependency information in init.d scripts is lacking for many situations. (I need to patch 4-5 init.d scripts in each openSUSE release; let's hope systemd improves that.) If it's a remark for me: My issue is not with init.d scripts; they are all run. After "Please stand by while rebooting the system...", when BIOS action is normally triggered, nothing happens. (And it has nothing to do with older hardware either; I bought this system from Dell 8 weeks ago; it's a rather new i7 system.) [opensuse] How to add a descriptive icon to Scribus

Thanks in advanced. I did installed Scribus from YaST2 (GUI) in KDE 4.6.00 (KR46SC, KDE-Extra repo activated) system. Scribus is running fine and it has been put correctly in App Launcher too. The minor issue it does not show the Scribus Icon. AFAIK, it is supposed to be installed by default ( with no user intervention) but it did not happen that way. So now I need to install the icon manually. Can anyone give me some suggestion to complete this task? Oh, it's a few weeks old Dell system with Intel Core i7 CPU. Well, several of them. But definitively no vintage system. It stops after the "Please stand by while rebooting the system..." message, when usually the BIOS is triggered to reboot. [opensuse] Login failing on /dev/tty{1,2,3,4,5,6}

After typing in my password, I get Module is unknown. This is happening ONLY on text terminals (not the graphical login) I did a forced update of login and also the PAM modules, but the problem still persists. Anyone have any ideas? [opensuse] Add KDE activity programatically?

I have been looking for information on this but do not see it. Is it possible to set up (install new) activities when installing software. For example, in out software suite, it could be interesting to have a calibration activity, a diagnostics activity, a measurement activity, and an analysis activity. These never occur at the same time, use different tools, an could perhaps benefit from desktop streamlining when that activity is active. This will probably never happen if we need to set these up by hand. If, however, we could (1) detect if the activity is already defined so we do not muck up an already installed activity, and (2) install an activity that does not exist, we could then justify investigating the use of activities in our systems. Any pointers are welcome. [opensuse] libreoffice won't open files

I had a strange experience last night - libreoffice won't open files. That is File/Open doesn't bring up a dialog box. File/New works and so does using a filename on the command line when starting libreoffice. Does anybody know what this might be? It's on 11.3, standard repository. I installed a system update the day before but I don't remember whether there was anything for libreoffice. [opensuse] KMix locking up recently

Anyone having an issue recently (~last week..) where the kmix widget in the task bar in kde (V4.6.00) locks up - can't change volume with multimedia keys, or mute etc. Think there may have been a recent update...?
