[opensuse] How increase ROOT size using GParted?

OpenSUSE 11.3 ROOT located on /dev/sdb6 with 3.0MB free (not good!) I want to increase /dev/sdb6, obviously. I booted to GParted and decreased the space on my OVERFLOW which is /dev/sdb8. The space is now unallocated with 1.46GiB but I cannot increase the size of /dev/sdb6. I also have 5.94GB unallocated on the same drive. /dev/sdb1 = ntfs 46.20 GB (I dual-boot, don't hate) (unallocated space shows here in GParted) - I formatted this before and it shows as /dev/sdb4 /dev/sdb3 = ext4 /dev/sdb2 = an extended partition /dev/sdb5 = linux-swap (SWAP1) /dev/sdb6 = ext4 (ROOT1) /dev/sdb7 = ext4 (HOME) /dev/sdb8 = ext4 (NEWSYS) (unallocated space shows here in GParted) How can I use the unallocated space to increase the space on /dev/sdb6? I also have /dev/sda1, sda2, sda3 with a lot of free space but I believe I cannot use it because it is on sda... [opensuse] Reinstalled v11.3

After another period when I was unable to reinstall the v11.3 that I messed up, I now have a happily running installation on fresh partitions, and I have begin to transfer data from the wreckage of the corrupted one. Everything I have checked on the new installation, which is still running kde v4.4.4; given that v11.4 is announced for release in March, I think it makes more sense to wait for it to bring an up-to-date kde with it. What I want to do now is to get the Address Book into Akonadi. What I have transferred into the new installation is a folder containing a large number of small of individual files (*.vcf), each with a gibberish name, relating to individual contacts. I found these files in folder <~/.local/share/contacts>. I have not found information that might help me deal with this array of encrypted files to get them into a single large file, and to integrate it with Akonadi. I would appreciate help in finding what I need to do. Beyond that task, I think the only other KDE data that needs to be transferred is the message-folder structure of Kmail. I have spent quite a lot of time trying to locate it in the corrupted installation (which I can access in runlevel 3), but withiut success. [opensuse] find out how many time reiserfs is mounted

Hi gurus, How do i find out, how many times my reiserfs partition is mounted? I'm using sles9 sp4 kernel version 2.6.5-7.308. My situation is racing against time, we have a problematic db that we need to reboot every week and and should be up within 30 mins or less. Our problem is when during boot when suse run a force fsck which would prolong our downtime (fsck for more than 500gig of data would take a while or more than 1 hour). If only we know how many time the server is booted then we can advise our user for an extended downtime. Is 20 mounts/remounts would force fsck on the partition? am I correct on this? [opensuse] OpenSUSE/Android connectivity?

Has anyone experience connecting an Android based smart phone to an OpenSUSE system? via USB? When I connect a Samsung Galaxy S there is no mention of the event in /var/log/messages which I find surprising. I have never come across a usb device that does not create an entry of some kind, even if it doesn't have a driver... What I should most like to do is see the Galaxy as another hard disk under OpenSUSE 11.3 (the alternative I may investigate is a solution with WiFi using nfs or cifs). [opensuse] OS 11.3 and KRFB desktop sharing

Hi, a couple of days ago I played around with desktop sharing. I enabled it in Yast, ran krfb to issue invitation and tried to access from a remote VNC client. Everything worked as advertised. I then switched remote management back off in Yast but now every time I launch KDE I get 2 instances of krfb that start automatically. I can't figure out what launches them. All, I just filed a Novell bug for the well known dolphin crash on PPT preview bug that has been filed at KDE many, many times. As of today, there is finally an upstream fix, but its for KDE 4.7. Please vote to get the fix backported. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675445 Everyone please vote. This bug is extremely annoying to the end-users and has been around for what seems like a couple years now.
