I'm using 11.3 on an E-Machine.
I Have formatted a Trekstore external disk with FAT32.
Now I'm copying another external disk to the Trekstore and this 129 Gb
wil last more than 30 hours.
Is that normal?
Thanks in advance

a plus sign + show up but the icon itself is very difficult to find the spot
that is active to click on there was a fix if i remember right but cant find
it how dp i get rid of the plus sign and get back the easy klick on the
icon instead of having to find an absolute spot ..

To the database gurus
I've just started exploring mysql (I'm a db newbie), and run into a 'feature'.
When I do LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE '/path/to/file.txt' INTO TABLE mytable;
I get Error 1148: The used command is not allowed with this MySQL version
I know that it's disabled for security reasons, but I don't want to have to
enter each record individually. Is there a hack to get round this restriction,
or do I have to recompile mysql?

Does your Wifi works flawlessly? Does it survive a suspend?
I bought an 1005HA that came pre-installed with Ubuntu (09.10 with
backported ath9k module). Up to now, I was too lazy to put openSUSE
(or Smeegol?) on it. It irks me that I have regular connection
problems with the Atheros Wifi. Well, but not enough to do a
re-install... ;-)
Other notebooks have no such problems to connect to my AP that's
just 3 meters (9 ft) away. So it is clearly a hardware/firmware or
software (Ubuntu/kernel) problem that's specific to my 1005HA.
So, if you tell me, that this works for you without any problems
with openSUSE 11.3 (maybe w/ updated kernel from HEAD?), this might
be the trigger to invest the work and give it a try.
Or maybe I should make and try out a Live USB from 11.4 RC1 that's
about to come out RSN?
Any comments with experiences are welcome,
Joachim

I'm getting output from the hourly system cron job:
running hourly cronjob scripts
SCRIPT: mcelog exited with RETURNCODE = 1.
SCRIPT: output (stdout && stderr) follows
mcelog: warning: record length longer than expected. Consider update.
read: No such device
SCRIPT: mcelog
------- END OF OUTPUT
I didn't know mcelog even existed until I saw these messages so I'm
interested to learn what they mean and what I need to do to get them to
go away.
The system is a vanilla 64-bit 11.2 except it is currently running the
2.6.37 kernel from the Kernel:/HEAD/11.2 repository.
Thanks for any help, Dave

David, I know that you know it; but for the sake of the archives:
Quotes are wrong, that should be "$(ls -A \"$1\")".
If the directory name starts with an hyphen, it'll get an error,
too. So better make it "$(ls -A -- \"$1\")".

Yes, the radeon driver is being loaded, so there does not appear a need to use 50-device-conf.
Take a look again at the X logfile. There should be lines there that show this driver being selected along with the timings and resolution with which it is being configured. For how to do this and similar tweaks, I again suggest reading all the way thru the "Screen resolution thread?". Tejas links to a great archlinux page which shows examples of using the 50-xxxx files, Felix elucidates on settings, and Philipp shows how to make randr settings load with X every time.
However, while all this is quite useful info and may help you fine tune your graphics, I doubt the answer is there re why on your machine FF and Chrome are locking up when reloading pages. On this I'm sorry but I don't have much to offer. Do you have the same problem if using Konqueror and Opera? If not, that suggests an issue like memory paging specific to those browsers, but again, that's just a guess.
I would be inclined to check into the status of the ATI proprietary driver (fglrx). While it may have issues with recent cards, your RV350 has been around for quite a while and at least when I used that driver for that card, it worked well including doing compositing. That's the best I can offer, but there are others here with much more expertise in this area than I.
