What is this? I receive the email shown below concerning the openSuSE election. I login with my ID and then receive the following in RED: "The system has decided you lack permissions." What is up with that? If I don't have permissions to vote, why send me the e-mail in the first place. It seem fundamental that whoever did the query to generate the address list would first ascertain whether the people in the address list were capable of voting. Did something go wrong? For the record, I vote for Anders Johansson. [opensuse] Beyond Compare on SuSE?

I noticed that Beyond Compare offers BC3 for Linux, and has RPMs available that include SuSE 11. They're available in only the 32-bit flavor, however, and say that BC3 is untested on any 64-bit Linux kernel. I'm tempted to download the test version and give it a try. Does anyone here know if that'll work, or will I just be wasting my time? I'd like to hear from anyone who's already tried it. [opensuse] KDE4 - a dumb beginner's question

Hello people, Just started using KDE4 and for some reason I can't figure out some rather basic things. For instance, how do I add application icons to my control panel or desktop? It is funny that after years of KDE experience I can't do that... Anyways, I am sure it is easy and I just missed the obvious. Any help much appreciated. Hello: Who was that genius who decided to put 'remove this panel' and 'remove this icon/applet from panel' next to (beneath/above) each other? If you click accidently to remove panel instead of remove applet than you have to start over building up the panel. Congratulation kde team! I'm not sure if there is a purpose for the widgets not remembering their position, but it doesn't make much sense. I can reproduce here on openSUSE 11.1, so I think you should file a bug about it. I don't use the folder view activity type, so I'd never switched activity types and didn't experience this bug. Are you switching activity types often? If so, why? Normally, you would only change this when the activity is created or on your first login to KDE 4. Still, I think you should file a bug about it, there's no reason the widgets shouldn't stay were they were. If you'd like to see your Desktop icons all the time, you can use either the folder view activity (under appearance settings) or a simple folder view widget (under add widgets). You can use the widget in either the desktop or the folder view activity type. Part of me thinks this might have been because of previously running KDE 4.1 or 4.0. The desktop activity type doesn't normally show anything except the wallpaper and any widgets you've added, and was the only activity type available in early versions; openSUSE added some desktop icon widgets to it for me to partially emulate the Desktop folder[1], and I thought for a moment those were the contents of my Desktop folder.
