[opensuse] [Fwd: problems with opensuse software search]

IMHO, there's something wrong with searching for software for Opensuse. I wanted to know what version of wine was available on the various versions on opensuse. So I went to http://www.opensuse.org/en/ and in the boxes at the top I chose 'search for software' and typed 'wine' and clicked 'run search'. I was taken to <http://software.opensuse.org/search?q=wine> which showed me a table headed "Download openSUSE" listing how to download opensuse 11.1 for various architectures! Not what I wanted and not what the URL indicates. The page says "This page is also available as an interactive download interface. To access it, please enable JavaScript and reload this page." I normally browse with NoScript, so I temporarily enabled Javascript to see what happened ... The page changes to something completely different! Same URL, completely different content! That's not very RESTful is it? But the content was still not what I wanted. It's headed "Get Software from the openSUSE Build Service". Well no, that's specifically what I DON'T want. I simply want to know what version of wine comes with each version of opensuse! How do I get that information? [opensuse] Volume mount going mad..

I have this 11.0 server running as a VMware guest. The SUSE system runs only a MySQL database, and of course the most basic processes needed. Every now and then the MySQL server stops answering, and when I check the server, the mounted file system has turned read-only. The file system is a reiserfs 3, and one volume keeps all of the system in one partition. After reboot, reiserfsck cannot fix the file system without going to a complete 'rebuild-tree'. I havenn't been able to find any traces in any log to why it does this, so I'm puzzled and any ideas on this would be great. [opensuse] 11.1 x64 Flash Player Dead Silent

Hi, I have continous problem - dead silent Flash Player under 11.1/x64/Firefox, on all sites. Even after I have removed PulseAudio. Once I've got sound AFTER iplayed some music in Amarok, but after reboot it get muted anyway. Other program like VLC, Amarok, Kaffeine work fine. Any suggestion(s) will be greatly appreciated. [opensuse] Rsnapshot problems

Hi, For the past few months, I've been using Rsnapshot to to do backups of /home and /etc to an external hard drive. It's worked well. However, this week, it's started thrashing the hard drive, and appears to be making a 50GB backup (that's the size of the source, so an incremental backup will be much less) go on and on. When the 500GB target drive is half full, I intervene and kill the rsync process. Below is part of the logfile from this evening, but it's not very informative. [opensuse] mismatched drivers for nvidia card

I tried the nvidia forums first and received no reply. I recently bought an EVGA e-GeForce 6200 video card (best I could do with AGP). My old one was a 5500 and I used the G01 drivers from the nvidia repository. I figured that this 6200 would use the G02, but it doesn't. It works with the 1.73 legacy drivers, but not the newer 1.80 drivers. I've heard there's a big difference in performance and I'd like to see that. Anyone know why my card isn't conforming? [opensuse] New ATI Driver 9.1 (8.573-1) Available - Still Slow...

Listmates, The new ATI driver is available from the ati site. The 9.1 release is version 8.573-1. The driver installs fine and seems to work fine on 11.0, but it is still slow compared to the 8-9 release. (it's a little slow compared to the 8-12 release). The annoying sluggishness of the driver is most noticeable when browsing through my bookmarks or scrolling pages. It probably effects games as well, but I don't run any to tell. The glxgears comparison is as follows: 9-1 Driver: 01:02 alchemy:~> glxgears #no compix 3030 frames in 5.0 seconds = 605.572 FPS 2587 frames in 5.0 seconds = 517.319 FPS 2578 frames in 5.0 seconds = 515.254 FPS 01:02 alchemy:~> glxgears # with compiz 2753 frames in 5.0 seconds = 550.591 FPS 2598 frames in 5.0 seconds = 519.210 FPS 2604 frames in 5.0 seconds = 520.450 FPS 2600 frames in 5.0 seconds = 519.994 FPS 8-12 Driver: 23:59 alchemy:~> glxgears 3021 frames in 5.0 seconds = 604.191 FPS 2613 frames in 5.0 seconds = 522.544 FPS 2614 frames in 5.0 seconds = 522.795 FPS 8-9 Driver: 23:43 alchemy:~> glxgears 4889 frames in 5.0 seconds = 977.692 FPS 4870 frames in 5.0 seconds = 973.831 FPS I don't know why the ATI Linux driver performance continues to suck. I have issues trouble tickets to ATI for every release since 8-9 and, it still sucks. (That just shows the pull I have with ATI) I can't speak to whether it fixes 3D in 11.1, for that, you will just have to install it and find out. [opensuse] why does "tcpdump -i any" not work on opensuse?

Hi all, Does anyone know why 'tcpdump -i any' ends up in something like this: tcpdump: SIOCGIFHWADDR: No such device The command works fine in fedora with the same version of libpcap and tcpdump.
