I'm guessing it tells > you in dmesg too. > > HTH, > James Alternatively, if you have a set of machines you routinely keep in sync via cloning a master image, then on the master you can modify grub's menu.lst file to reference the old /dev/sdX style paths. Then the clones should work fine. ie. We have 5 travel PCs that have identical hardware. When a major upgrade comes, we upgrade the master and test it out. [opensuse] in thunderbird, all my saved list mails not showing, but still in file

Listmates, In thunderbird, I did something that made all my saved opensuse list messages disappear. I thought at first I had deleted them with a stray ctrl+shif+A followed by a shift+del, (accidentally done with 'caplocks' on) but apparently I didn't do that because all the messages are still in my "/home/david/.thunderbird/2k12pnl0.default/Mail/pop.suddenlinkmail.com/openSuSE" file. Looking at the file in text it contains all the saved mails for approximately the past year, but only the messages for the last 2 days are visible from within thunderbird itself. I have checked all the "view setting" so that isn't the problem. One thing that has changed is the ".../openSuSE.msf" file size. It has gone from several megabytes down to ~30k. I know this is where the problem lies, but this is where I am stuck. I have tried right-clicking the folder->properties->rebuild index, but that just rebuilds the index for the past couple of days. I have tried moving the file somewhere else and forcing a rebuild, but that doesn't work either. There must be something else I need to delete. I have a backup, but not with all the threads trimmed down, etc. I would like to find a fix so I don't have to wade through that again. How do I tell tbird to reindex all the messages and give me the full folder back?? It seems like a simple reindex should do, but no dice. Using an off-the-shelf product for cloning, the software does not recognize the XFS partition on the source drive and therefore it is not appearing on the target drive. Using the Suse DVD to boot from, what is the best way to clone one Linux drive to another? [opensuse] Installing kernel >= 2.6.21 on SLED10

Due to bug http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3328, I'd like to install kernel version 2.6.21 or newer on SLED10 systems. I've found several kernel packages for SLES/SLED on http://software.opensuse.org/search, but they all fail to install because of failed dependencies. In particular, I haven't been able to find a kernel package which works with sysfsutils < 2.0. SLED10 uses 1.3. Upgrading this package seems non-trival. How can these kernel packages be installed? [opensuse] usb cdc problem

Hi Im getting problem with my usb device in which i got an application which emulates serial port. In XP everything works well so device its not corrupted. Device contains arm proceesor. I tried to install on OpenSuSE 10.3 jwm ( joe window manager ) and conky ( both from source ) but the ./configure script tells me that I don't have X11. X11 there is. [opensuse] Keyboard woes

I’m no longer able to use my custom keyboard layout (Open SUSE 11.0); keyboard switching has also stopped working. I’ve made changes from time to time to the default Irish keyboard layout (/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/ie), and they have always worked. I made some more changes today, and since then neither the keyboard layout nor changes I made previously to the arrangement of qualifier keys (level 2 select, compose, etc.) are working. In Control Centre, when I select, for example, Regional and accessibility > Keyboard layout > Xkb options > Third-level choosers > Press left-alt key to choose 3rd level, this change does not seem to be preserved; nor does it work if I enter the corresponding command in the terminal (setxkbmap -option lv3:lalt_switch). Now the default (Irish) keyboard layout, which I have preserved unchanged, does not work either. No doubt I accidentally changed something I don’t understand. Any help or hints would be gratefully appreciated.
