[opensuse] mkinitrd failure (raid related?)

Got this error running on vanilla linux-2.6.25.4 and the KOTD kernel-source-2.6.25.4-14.1.x86_64.rpm Kernel image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.25.4-14-default Initrd image: /boot/initrd-2.6.25.4-14-default Root device: /dev/md2 (mounted on / as ext3) Resume device: /dev/md1 Fatal storage error. Device /dev/ does not have a driver. All I could find on Google was a pointer to the (old) bug report: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-bugs/2007-08/msg02198.html Any suggestions? Thanks. [opensuse] Keeping ZENworks off and Just Being Able to Install New Software

Every time I open "installation source" synchronize with ZENWorks is checked. Then when I try to "Add Product", it always times out because it cannot connect with ZENWorks. I have no idea what ZENWorks is. All I want to do is add some packages from an online repository for openSUSE 10.1. I go into Add Product and I have to paste in the URL for the 10.1 repository. What is the use of "installation source"? What is the point of setting up repositories to use if yast NEVER uses them? Why is updating SLED so difficult and confusing? [opensuse] Can openSUSE rpms be used in SLED?

Does anyone know if openSUSE rpms can be used in Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED)? I purchased an HP 2133. I'm debating whether to stay with SLED (it connects at home and at work effortlessly), or move to openSUSE, or install Fedora 9 (I'm much more familiar with Fedora). I don't expect getting wireless to work will be as simple as SLED, but on the other hand I feel totally constrained by using SLED. I'm sure openSUSE is much better but I must admit I've found SLED EXTREMELY difficult to figure out as far as installing new packages. I've had the HP 2133 for 1.5 weeks and I have as yet to install a single new package. I always get weird messages - it provides a list of what is available but ALWAYS comes up with some error when trying to install. I've manages to locate the iso images of SLED so I will be burning the DVD (which did NOT come with the HP 2133 - that would have been too easy). Using yum on Fedora is so simple and painless. Using Yast2, well it's just nasty by comparison. Maybe because it has some many options. It should just work by default. For yum, to install a package you can use the gui or just type: yum install package-name The default repositories will work for many things and it's simple to add repositories. Yast2 won't install anything - it always wants a DVD. Are there alternative repositories for SLED? I've tried yast2 -i package-name but it always wants a DVD. [opensuse] KDE 3 and KDE 4 konqueror oddity

I have noticed an oddity between KDE 3 and KDE 4 Konqueror's web rendering ability, KDE 3 Konqueror works fine but KDE 4 Konqueor has problems some pages works fine (Google is one such site), some pages only partly renders (opensuse.org is one such site), and some pages doesn't render at all (www.newegg.com is one such site). [opensuse] Nobody knows what lsb3.2 is ?

Hello SuSE people, I guess not because nobody replied. So I am trying again. Trying to install a gutenprint driver for a new Epson CX Stylus 9400 on 10.3. RPM claims that it needs lsb3.2. (The drivers are built using lsb3.2) My SuSE 10.3 has only lsb3.1 according to Yast. Tried to upgrade it to lsb3.2 and I get "no interesting upgrades". Trying to install it and I get a "lsb3.1 is already installed" According to linuxprint.org SuSE is already using lsb3.2. Apparently not.
