The kernel in RC1 appears to be OK, Fred. Nothing got 'killed' (except that I have no sound but whether it's because of the kernel or not I don't know) - and even the very latest nVidia driver just released (and on the nVidia site) compiled and works OK. Even KDE4 is starting to look respectable..... I can't even get an update. When I view the patched in YOU, it shows the kernel at the Beta3 kernel. No packages available. Of course, I don't install a lot of stuff like apparmour or openoffice or beagle, so that may be it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yep. Start you and select ALL patches, and it will show a smily face beside the kernel update for Beta3 in text YaST. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The kernel in B3 was upgraded to 2.6.25.4-4 (and which caused all the hassles). The one in RC1 ends in 4-5 (or something like it) but is not the same as in B3 -- I checked to see if I would need to re-intall the whole thing on the first reboot :-) . Fred, why do you run pre-release OSes? IMHO you'd have a lot less grief if you stick to released versions ;) Joe -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No, no, no, leave Fred to fiddle with pre-releases. Yep, 11.0 rc1 looks nice, and kde4 is starting to look good. However I'm still stymied by the lack of a driver for the broadcom wireless chip - it's a plain old bcm4311, it works fine in ubuntu 8.04 and suse 10.3, but I could find no drivers for it in the Suse 11.0 pre-release versions so far. That is actually the flash on digg that crashed your browser and not my site :o) Mine is Konq / Opera friendly, although I for some reason have an extra header in opera that I have to track down and fix (in 9.5b2 1997 at least) Ben -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
