[opensuse] no mic capture on SBx00 Azalia

Hi, had a hardware defect and got a new mainboard (MSI) with an onbard soundcard: Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. Device 7388 Codec: ALC888 I'm on openSUSE 11.0 / Alsa 1.0.16 I can't get Alsa to capture anything from the attached microphone. The microphone works as I can hear myself when the Mic output is on but I can't get it recorded for example with arecord. That stuff is usually a wrongly configured mixer but I've played around now for a long time and still couldn't get it to work. [opensuse] flase screen resolution for splash screen

Hello, I have installed a openSUSE 10.2 at a 1248x1024 Flat Screen. Then I moved the PC to its final location where a 1024x768 non Flat Screen is attached. Once stared there is nothing to see just flickering lines. To fix the problem I booted with save settings to runlevel 3, started Sax2 and changed the Monitor settings. After a restart I still see the flickering lines until the xserver takes overn - than all is ok. Well I thing Sax only adjusts the Xserver settings. The settings for the bootsplash screen is in one of the grub files? I saw at one place a 3 digit hex number tha could be a candiate? Is the menu.lst the file I need to edit? Is this the line (this is not the original line): kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.15-27-386 root=/dev/hda3 ro quiet splash vga=0x342 I assume that I need an other code for 1024x768 (xga), is there some where a link to a list of codes? [opensuse] No ISDN with AVM ISDN card and openSUSE 10.2

Hello, I have an AVM Fritz PCI v 2.0 ISDN card in my PC. Unfortunately AVM does not provide any more drives for this card after policy change for kernel modules. How ever there is a page where a patched kernel verison is available which incorporates the divers. But openSUSE is no longer maintained. Due to this I like to ask the comunity if someone was able to have a working installation of the above mentioned card and the Kernel 2.6.18.8-0.11? I also tried to compile the patched driver but this fails with the message Rule: kernelrelease not availabl STOP. [opensuse] Taskbar in 11.0 and KDE4.x now can Autohide

For those who may not know it yet, I discovered this morning that the Taskbar in KDE4.1x can be made to Autohide, just like previously in KDE3. Luvly! (I don't know when this came into affect.) Just right-click on the Taskbar, select Panel Settings and then select More Settings. One thing, the Always Visible option always shows up with a red tick even if you select Autohide so ignore this little idiosyncrasy, select Autohide and save the new setting. [opensuse] ccsm and compiz Solved!

David Rankin, I want to thank you very much for helping me out with getting this running. It's great now! I did solved the one last problem I had w/ the workspace switching by in the general options --> desktop size I set everything except Horizontal Virtual Size to 1. [opensuse] Sound under VMWare

I have VMWare Server 1.0.7 running on openSUSE 10.3 on an AMD64 x 2 box, hosting WinXP SP 3. Everything works fine except for the microphone (the speakers work OK). For test purposes I've used a small WinXP partition and have configured the microphone there with no problems - so the hardware is OK. I don't know if the microphone is working under openSUSE since I don't really know how to test it. One thing I have noticed is that the default device is described as Realtek AC97 Audio on the Windows installation, but as Creative SoundBlaster PCI in the virtual installation. YaST2 describes the sound card as IXP SB400 AC'97. Does anyone have any ideas? I've a feeling that this might be the wrong place to ask, but after the success in getting USB to work I thought I'd try my luck. If anyone has a suggestion as to a better place to post, I'll take the advice. Thanks in advance. [opensuse] MPLayer Plugin for Firefox

I have 10.3/32-bit with KDE 3.5 and Firefox 3.03 with the QuickTime Plug-in 7.4.5 running mplayerplug-in-qt.so / mplayerplug-in 3.55. Lately, I've noticed that - instead of embedded videos for the quicktime trailers - that a separate mplayer window is opening with some funky tab on teh left side.
