[opensuse] Suse 11 Printer Problems

Hi! I'm running 64-bit Suse 11.0 with an HP2100 laser printer and the CUPS printing system. I am having problems printing with both Okular and Konqueror. Okular prints nothing but blank pages when I attempt to print a wide document from a Duden website. Konqueror prints the document but truncates the right side of the image. I also just discovered that, printing a U.S. patent from onlinepatents.com with konqueror, that a few lines are dropped from each page. This error makes me wonder if the printer is printing in A4 format even though I have selected U.S. letter size as the default for the printer. I also found that, when I attempted to print pages 90-102 of a pdf file from the intel web site, the printing stops (but with the printer waiting for more output) at page 102 after printing the following message: PCL XL error Subsystem: KERNEL Error: Illegal Tag Operator: 0x1b Position: 2 A second error occurred when I tried to print 100-102: PCL XL error Subsystem: KERNEL Error: IllegalOperatorSequence Operator EndSession Position: 6141 A third attempt to print just page 102 resuled in a blank sheet for output. I kinda cheated to do this one - I scanned in the label in question and traced over it in GIMP. Using multiple layers, I just fit the images in where I wanted and saved as a PNG, then printed it from whatever was handy (I hadn't played around with gimp-print at all). Took a couple of test prints to get everything lined up properly, but it worked out quite well. Some days ago you could find every package needed for an openSUSE 11.0 installation in the BuildService, especially in the home:appleonkel:EEE repository. Unfortunately this temporary is broken with the latest kernel- Update for 11.0 and two driver aren't available from Factory anymore, so that they cannot be linked from there. [opensuse] Text missing in Application Browser after trying compiz

I'm on opensuse 11.0, using Gnome. After trying (unsuccessfully) to get compiz working, the application browser (under the "Computer" menu, "More Applications...") shows the icons for the applications, but no text labels. The section headings are there. I've uninstalled all the compiz stuff. Can't figure out how to fix the application browser. Any suggestions?? Thanks. Lance Drager

RPM is telling you that wont work. You have to upgrade to at least 10.3 which provides GLIBCXX_3.4.9 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` I see. Thank you for the details. sudo zypper in rpmfile.rpm Or you can add the VirtualBox repository. sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Virtualization:/VirtualBox/openSUS E_10.2_Update/ VirtualBox then do sudo zypper in virtualbox Note: openSUSE 10.2 is almost end of life, you should consider upgrading to 10.3 or higher. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thank you Ben. Tried the 'zypper ar' argument to add the repository, but it didn't like the syntax. Tried using 'sa' but that didn't work either. Any suggestions? <> Unknown command 'ar'. Hello, I am trying to install Sun's VirtualBox, however I am running into a strange dependency. The file the rpm needs is actually installed on the system.
