Thought I would post an update on this. Worked with bugzilla support on this, too. The hwinfo --netcard output showed that there were two driver commands listed for the Marvell Yukon onboard NIC - sk98lin and skge. Sk98lin was listed as 'not active' and skge as 'active'. I tested enabling the NIC manually with modprobe and ifup commands. The NIC enabled as eth1 when using the skge driver. In YaST, I changed the DFI 88E8001 NIC hardware configuration, replacing the sk98lin driver with skge. Rebooting enables the NIC as eth1, as expected. Occasionally, eth1 is renamed to eth4, as seen in the boot messages. Richard Cromi email: rcromi(a)neo.rr.com

[opensuse] Updating Opensuse 10.2

Hi All, I would like to upgrade my workstation from Suse 9.3 to Opensuse 10.2. My test install of 10.2 won't update. When I run the new updater, it shows the updates in the list, but then it keeps asking me to insert the media. The same dvd that I installed from is in the drive (10.2 GM DVD), but gives the following error...... ----- Please insert 'openSUSE-DVD5-download (Media source cd:///?devices=/dev/hdc,/dev/hdd does not contain the desired media)' on media 1 ----- I see no cd or dvd drives listed in My Computer either, but nothing has changed with the system since I did the install of 10.2. [opensuse] Newbie Problems

Hi. I just installed openSuSE 10.2 and have run into a couple of problems. I am working off of a dual boot Acer TravelMate 4060. I have had some functionality using KNOPPIX and internet but cannot connect with this new distro. I am also having problems setting up my printer (HP LaserJet 1000). I understand that it is not supported, but I am wondering if there is a workaround (compatible printer). YaST has detected it. But other than that, I am at a complete loss. [opensuse] .kde compatiblity - moving from SuSE 10.0 to 10.2

I plan on upgrading my workstation from SuSE 10.0 to 10.2, and thereby from KDE 3.4.2 to KDE 3.5.5. I will carry out the upgrade as a new, clean install. How about my KDE settings in .kde? [opensuse] 10.2 & Bluetooth on Dell Inspiron 9300

Issue: Can't get 10.2 to work with bluetooth mouse. Background: I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 which has bluetooth built in. I bought a Logitech bluetooth mouse and am trying to establish a connection. The daemon is running (ps shows /usr/sbin/hcid -f /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf running). The Bluetooth indicator on the laptop, however, is not lit. BT is activated at the BIOS. [opensuse] 10.2 is turning into a nightmare

As far as I know I only use four apps that require Gnome. Firefox, Thunderbird, Gftp and Gramps. Well, maybe five if you include Sunbird. NOW I can't even update my KDE stuff without getting into LONG strings of Gnome conflicts. I can't even get my openSuSE install DVD out of the drive because it says I don't have Kmediamanager running. Pushing the eject button on the drive does nothing because SOMETHING has it locked. I can't "unmount" the drive. I guess I'm going to have to resort to the paper clip method to open the drive tray. If I could get the video to work I think I would go back to 10.0 on this box. Hell, I might as well just install the Vista upgrade when I get it. Can't have any more headaches than I do now. The hell of it is that I was just getting this thing to work pretty good. Now I think I may just scrap 10.2 and wait for 11.0 to come out and try again on this box.
