how to use firefox to visit google ？？？

eth0 traffic

At some time the traffic on my ADSL connection eth0 is very active although I am doing nothing on the net. Okay, I have Skype running and ntpd is looking after the time but that cannot be the reason for the many exchanges between my computer and the net. The KNemo gives a fair idea what is going on without giving any clue with what it is connecting and what it seems to do exactly. Is there something I can do to find out what kind of traffic is going on. Perhaps somebody who is trying to get access to my computer?

Cannot change owership as root

As root I cannot change ownership of a directory that root owns. This is the directory: linux:/home/myhome # cat /etc/fstab | grep hda4 /dev/hda4 /home/myhome/Windows vfat defaults 0 0 This is what happens: linux:/home/myhome # chown -v myuser /home/myhome/Windows chown: changing ownership of `/home/myhome/Windows': Operation not permitted failed to change ownership of `/home/myhome/Windows' to myuser Why is this operation not permitted?? Before I got to this point I tried to use mount to mount this file system but mount said the filesystem (hda4) didn't exist. Yet Yast was able to mount it but, I can't change the owner. Maybe mount not finding hda4 is related to not being able to change owner. How can I fix this? Thanks, Jerome

uninstalling a compiled program

I compiled and install ivtv-0.4.1, but I want to upgrade it to 0.4.2. How can I uninstall the 0.4.1 version? make uninstall does not work. Art

Mainboard selection

Hello suse-linux-e! I am thinking about buy this mainboard and CPU: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 64bit. soc.939 MB Microstar K8N nWidia nForce NF3 I am not sure if still SuSE 9.2 is not able to support south brigde of this board. I was trying to build similar computer in October 2005 and I had to change to board who support AMD processor with socket 754, because network adapter didn't work and as I remember that USB had problems too. Maybe you take me question, that why I don't want SuSE 10.0, but the reason is, that I have got very bad experiences with running Kylix 3 Pro on Linux kernel 2.6.11=>. On 9.2 it works. Do I have firewire ?

Hi, Am running OSS 10 on a dv1000 series laptop and need to buy an external hard drive. The machine has a firewire port but how can I tell whether Suse has detected it when I don't possess any firewire stuff to test it with? Any suggestions as to any particular drive that might work well with suse? TIA Francesco

Sieveshell - Help

I've set up sieve scripts fro Cyrus imap. Seems to be working OK, but have a few questions. 1. When I run "sieveshell localhost" as a user, I have to type in the password 3 times in a row to get in. Is this normal? Can I adjust something to prevent this triplicate entry? 2. I have some email users set up, but have prevented them from loging into the system (/bin/false). Running "sieveshell localhost" only gets me into the user account that I'm logged into on the system level (again after entering the password 3 times). Is there an option to add to the shieveshell command that will let me set up a non-system enabled email user, something like "sieveshell localhost user" ? 3. I have a sievescript set up to filter different suse mailinglists to different folders. One is if header :contains "X-MailingList" "suse-security" { fileinto "INBOX.suse-security"; Another is if header :contains "X-MailingList" "suse-security-announce" { fileinto "INBOX.suse-security-announce"; What this does is any list mail for "suse-security-announce" goes into the proper email folder, but list mail for "suse-security" goes into BOTH "suse-security" and "suse-security-announce". How can I alter the script to make sure only the correct email goes into its corresponding folder? I suspect it has to do with the word "contains", but I'm not sure what to change that to.
