Hello, I'm in the midst of trying to convert a LaTeX document to MSWord. I cannot find a recent rpm adding htlatex and/or tex4ht to the tetex system contained in SuSE 10.1 or OpenSuSE 10.1. Has this been done by anyone? Creating rpm's for Suse

Hi everybody, I have some question on creating RPM's for a Suse distribution. 1) Does Suse have a specific way of doing things? 2) If yes, is there a howto somewhere? 3) How do I test it without having a second clean system? 4) If I want to create rpm's for more than one Suse version, do I need to build it on each one? 5) And if I want to make distro independent (well suppose it's not completely possible) rpm? Any tips on doing that. Thanks Marius

apt-get dist-upgrade ..Result: Broken Packages. SuSE 10.0

I use apt-get on my SuSE 10.0 to keep my system uptodate. I checked out the terminal output of the dist-upgrade command. I noticed that some packages gave the following error: error: unpacking of archive failed: cpio: Bad magic I wonder if the mirror has turned wacky. iptables tarpitting

I'm using iptables 1.3.6 on a SUSE 10.1 box - and I just cannot get tarpitting to work. # iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 135 -j TARPIT iptables: No chain/target/match by that name Can someone guide me in the right direction, please? CUPS error

Hello! I posted earlier but got no response, I have just fininsed installing opensuse 10.1 from the remastered dvd and I cannot print to my Magicolor 2430 DL on the network. I have enable debug in the cupsd.conf file and all jobs seem to complete but do not actually print. When I set the log level to error every job I send outputs this error: E [23/Oct/2006:18:38:42 -0500] PID 16634 stopped with status 22! I have searched the web and cannot find any reference to status 22 I have no Idea, everything is the same as my other 10.1 machines (4 in total). Windows Ate A GRUB

(I posted this on LQ but have yet to recieve a response...) Help, I've got a very bizarre error going on. I installed SUSE 10.1 on a new laptop some time ago. It is a Gateway 280m TabletPC which came installed with Windows NT Tablet Edition. All has been running for the most part since install. Ive got SMART running the show and it has been fine. I wanted to install the touch screen part of the system (stupid me) and had to reboot to Windows (first time) in order to determine what the screen was. (Gateway informed me that they design the hardware for Windows XP so dont support Linux. Yes, I wrote them.) I exited windows, and then on reboot, I cannot load anything. I get the message, "GRUB loading stage 1.5" then the machine goes into an endless cycle of rebooting. I did some searching and found some Ubuntu solutions. I loaded both SUSE and Ubuntu live DVDs and tried fiddling around with things. I cannot seem to get the grub.conf file to load. I did load SUSEs rescue system on the DVD. I tried to fix the boot loader, but go the following error: GNU GRUB version 0.97 (640K lower / 3072K upper memory) [Minimal BASH-like editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename. ] grub>setup-stage2=/boot/grub/stage2(hd0,5) (hd0,5) Error21:Selected disk does not exist grub>setup-stage2=/boot/grub/stage2(hd0)(hd0,5) error 21: Selected disk does not exist grub>quit press OK I thought, okay, Ill load LILO. I went into root, typed grub, then find /boot/grub/stage1 It spit back grub> root (hd0,5) Isnt that sda5? If so, thats my swap partition. Okay, I went ahead and did the following: grub> find /boot/grub/stage1 (hd0,5) grub> root (hd0,5) Filesystem type is reiserfs, partition type 0x83 grub> setup (hd0,6) Checking if "/boot/grub/stage1" exists... yes Checking if "/boot/grub/stage2" exists... yes Checking if "/boot/grub/reiserfs_stage1_5" exists... yes Running "embed /boot/grub/reiserfs_stage1_5 (hd0,6)"... 18 sectors are embedd ed. succeeded Running "install /boot/grub/stage1 (hd0,6) (hd0,6)1+18 p (hd0,5)/boot/grub/sta ge2 /boot/grub/menu.lst"... succeeded Nada. Detection of duplicate IP addreses in Suse Linux

Hi. I would like to know if anyone have ever seen a program for SuSe Linux that could be capable of detection of duplicate IP addreses in the same network segment and that it could show a messages of the related problem, something similar what windows do when it detect a problem in the network that could be a duplicate ip address. SPAM: not receiving all mail from the list

I seem to be receiving a very small percentage of the list mail, since about Sept. 21, 2006 (I believe the server was shut down for a couple of days.) Today I received 5 (so far), of about 35 I saw in the archives. Nothing came through over the week-end. Can someone tell me what could be causing this, how to correct it? --ED--
