Hi, I'm trying to setup sasl with my postfix-server, running Suse10.1. I have a virtual domain stored in MySql. The usernames are the e-mail addresses of the users : user(a)ace-electronics.be In /usr/lib/sasl2/smtpd.conf I have : pwcheck_method: saslauthd -a pam -n mech_list: plain login In /etc/pam.d/smtp I have : auth required pam_mysql.so user=postfixuser passwd=secret db=postfixdb table=usertable usercolumn=username passwordcolumn=password crypt=1 If I try testsaslauthd -s smtp -u 'k.lelong(a)ace-electronics.be' -p 'password' it fails. If I put verbosity on in /etc/pam.d/smtp, I see that pam_mysql authenticates, but pam itself seems to fail. If I try telnet smtp 25 auth plain <mimencoded username and password> it fails but in the mysql-log I see only k.lelong as the username, the domain name disappeared. In main.cf I have : smtpd_sasl_local_domain = postconf -n has no smtpd_sasl_local_domain. How can I recover the domainname ? [opensuse] Bind 9.x support for IDN

Has anyone come across the IDN patch RPM for Bind 9.x on Suse? I'm trying to make the beast accept IDN (domain names with accents, as in pagines.cat == pàgines.cat == xn--pgines-ita.cat) but I'm not having much luck with the source I've built. I managed to get the thing to work under bind 8.x... but bind 9.x is cowardly refusing to play along. (Or I'm missing something - >50% probability). Here's an example of one that works => http://www.fundació.cat/ ...but those guys don't answer my mails. :-( Does anyone know whether SUSE will ship an IDN enabled build of bind with the distro at some time? Firewall Problem

I have never used SuSE Firewall because I have a router with a built-in firewall, but recently I lost my router and it took a few days to get a new one. Meanwhile, my machine was exposed. So, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and enable the firewall, even though I shouldn't really need it currently since I now have a new router. Well, I am having problems with the firewall. I have an Oracle database on the machine which I access from another machine via Oracle's built-in Apache server configuration (it comes with a complete Apache server configuration). Anyway, I am unable to connect to the machine with the newly enabled firewall via that http server (the browser says the site is unreachable, or something like that). I set "Allow All Services" for all zones and STILL I can't connect. Can someone tell me what I am missing here? Thanks, Greg Wallace

Smart and "ldconfig && SuSEconfig "

Learned in the past weeks that it is necessary to run SuSEconfig after using Smart. During my DOS days I would have made a batfile where Smart would be followed by SuSEconfig. Could that be done easily in Suse 10.1? What wonders me is the instruction in one of the email's to use "ldconfig && SuSEconfig" From the short timespan I used Red Hat (RH 5.2) I remember ldconfig but since my happy Suse years I can't remember using ldconfig. What is the background of the combined instruction? Ldconfig does not do anything visual on my system. SuSEconfig does ;). -- Linux User 183145

Hi all. The situation is this. I've installed the madwifi rpms and Yast2 correctly identifies the wlan card. I have configured the card using Yast2 setting the encryption and all. Card just won't connect. But if I use KNetworkManager and choose "Connect to Other Wireless Network" and adds ESSID, passphrase it works. Problem is that this computer must connect to the network at boot and stay connected. What can I do about this? Executing iwconfig shows the card as ath0 but no ESSID or other information is entered. The file at /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-wlan_*********** shows the information I have entered in Yast2. I've spent 7hrs on this now... Appreciate all help possible. (: Thanks!

[opensuse] Upgrade Question i686 to x86_64

Hi All, Is there a means upgrade an existing Suse 10.0 i686 installation to a Suse 10.0 x86_64 without physical access to the hardware. My hosting company only installs 10.0 i686 on their dedicated servers and I would like to update the system to 64bit. Can this be done via yast? Is there a HOW-TO somewhere, to do it manually? I've Googled for hours and have not been able to find anything applicable. How to convert scanned pictures to a pdf book

I have scanned in 300 pages of pictures and want to "bind" it as a pdf book. I tried some ways, but I could not make it with so many pages. I am looking for a way, where all pages named as A00001, A00002 ...... in one directory would be converted into one pdf file. Hereby, it should always add one page and not open all pages at once. Why UPG: users

Hi all, I come from RH/FC. I notice that in Suse, when we create user it's upg would be "users" and not him/her. Why is that? Do you have any url I can read on?
