When you want to add a new instalation source, you need to enter three things. 1. The type of source, e.g. CD, HD, FTP, HTTP 2. The server 3. The directory Is there any reason that you can not do this on one line? e.g. ftp://ftp.example.com/dir/opensuse cd://media/dev/ http://mirror.example.net/dir/subdir/subsubdir/opensuse ... Hello A new Super LIght Core and KDE iso is available. It now contains the ck5 kernel rpm and a few additional applications people wanted. Had to remove kdepim due to space constrains. Of course it is also preloaded,prelinked and contains Kynaptik for easy access to Eberhard's apt repository and also features a fuly integrated KLIK, which has had some deserved press attention lately. I am currently running it all and really enjoying th "snappyness". Please download and test as this will be the last iso before the final slick 10.0 iso end of this week. Please provide feedback before Thursday if you want your idea to be included for the the final iso. I will be producing iso's on a monthly basis in the future. Kontact crashes after online updates

First I selected all but Postgresql and the Kernel, then after a reboot I did the Kernel update with a reboot. I started Kontact and started nosing around KMail. I created a log entry just to test it out and then closed the program. Now I can't start kMail thru Kontact but can without going thru Kontact. "Caused signal 11 (SIGSEGV)." I can still run KMail or even Evolution which I'm glad for, but I'm just wondering about the importance of Kontact.

makeSUSEdvd 0.10 released

I have just put the latest version of makeSUSEdvd online. Now when you use it with the `-i` option, meaning no DVD iso, it will give you some pointers what to put in grubn and lilo, so you can boot and install from HD. If you download the boot.iso and rename it to SUSEboot.iso, it will also work. Best use it with `-s` as well, so it will be put on a partition you do not need to format untill after the instalation. links: http://www.opensuse.org/Making_a_DVD_from_CDs http://www.opensuse.org/Installation_without_CD I am still looking how to make a bootable PPC version. I do not have a Mac, so I can not do any tests, nor do I have any idea what to do. MozillaFirefox 1.07 update

Hey Group; Using Yast update on SuSE 10 there is Foxfire. Which seems to work except now I get something like a "beaglePageLoad: beagleWriteContent failed" exception" error message. So, I downloaded the real version of Foxfire 1.0.7 and it also has the same "beagle" related problem. This is a problem with Firefox and KDE. It doesn't showup on another Window Manager ( fvwm2 ). So it would seems KDE related. What is "beagle"? Automatic detection and configuration of WIFI connections?

Is there a group of SUSE programmers focused on making WIFI connection management work as well as Apple's OS/X? One thing OS/X does, that I really like, is popup a dialog when I have lost my connection and new hubs are detected. I know that Linux has to contend with more hardware capability variations than Macs do. For example, some wireless hardware doesn't support scanning, some doesn't support WPA and/or WPA2, etc. Still, I tried to get Yast2 to configure a connection in an internet cafe the other day and it just would not configure the connection. I would get associated, but no DHCP server would be found. I guess it might have been a glitch in the cafe's connection, but there were other people connected around me. In my case, I am running OpenSUSE 10.1 alpha1 on a Centrino-based laptop (ipw2200). Thanks! Miles

.xsessions-error

I experienced a curious problem right now with RC1. I don't know at all if this is a bug or a local problem. but as there is an imediate solution I give it. I experienced a "no more tmp space" error. the / was full (10Gb partition) I went root to use the reserved root memory and after some search found in my user /home a 5Gb ".xsessions-error" file. I could not keep it (too big :-) so I don"t know why it was so big, I will monitor the new one right now gets > (seamonkey-bin:5694): GConf-WARNING **: Owner of /tmp/gconfd-jdd is not the current user > > > ** (Gecko:5694): WARNING **: Owner of /tmp/orbit-jdd is not the current u but removing this file regain control. a reboot was achieved to be sure to have all running well. SuSE 10 kernel compile

Hey Group; SuSE 10's kernel seems to not like to compile all of the needed file.kos. I did a make cloneconfig and only changed the CPU. And mkinitrd complained about missing file.ko.
