Hey Group; SuSE 10's kernel seems to not like to compile all of the needed file.kos. I did a make cloneconfig and only changed the CPU. And mkinitrd complained about missing file.ko. It does seem to boot but I am up on a true kernel.org kernel. -- 73 de Donn Washburn Hpage:" http://www.hal-pc.org/~n5xwb " Ham Callsign N5XWB Email: " n5xwb@hal-pc.org " 307 Savoy St. HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador LL# 1.281.242.3256 " http://counter.li.org " #279316

This is pretty much the definition of how not to ask a question. Perhaps you could start by telling us which kernel you are using, which changes you made, which *exact* commands you ran to compile and install the new kernel, and which modules it is you don't see

No problem - it is the default kernel sent with SuSE 10 Beta4 which I believe is 2.6.13-3-default I compiled it with "make cloneconfig" then "make menuconfig" so I could alter the CPU from i586 to athlon. That is it. save and exit. make bzImage when complete make modules and module_install. Then "mkinitrd" which complained about missing files -- 73 de Donn Washburn Hpage:" http://www.hal-pc.org/~n5xwb " Ham Callsign N5XWB Email: " n5xwb@hal-pc.org " 307 Savoy St. HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador LL# 1.281.242.3256 " http://counter.li.org " #279316

By the way, if this is really all you did, then you never copied the new bzImage to /boot and removed the old one, so mkinitrd will have tried to mkae an initrd for the old kernel, but your modules_install wiped all the modules for it, so that will fail miserably
