I have a semi laptop that has been working Great with Suse 9.0 for over a year. Sorry, I have never tried the modem since I always use the network card. The computer is an ECS Desknote (one of two people in local lug that have them) and the reason I say semi laptop is it has no internal battery. It uses an external one of AC or DC from car thru an adapter ( I have the adapter but not the external battery) . Normally they are not cheap but I got a good deal and a local store has carried them then droped the price since they didn't have the demand they thought they would. GNOME Fonts

When I installed SuSE 9.1 I had it also install GNOME as well as KDE. After the installation KDE looks perfectly fine, no problems there but when I tried to logon to GNOME all of the fonts on screen are so tiny that it looks like a single line. They are unintelligable. Did anyone experience this after an install if so how did you fix it? I'd like to play with GNOME as well if at all possible. Any recommendations? Thanks.. -Jason

DVDs on 9.1

I've just got around the trying to enable DVD reading on my PC with 9.1 installed. I've installed all the relevant xine packages from packman, including xine-ui. However, it won't play the DVD - it complains that there is no input plugin to handle DVDs. Also, I cannot install the Kaffeine RPM from packman - it needs qt 3.3.2 and kdelibcs3 3.2.2, whereas SUSE 9.1 comes with 3.3.1 and 3.2.1, respectively. Can anyone suggest how I could get Kaffeine enabled to play DVDs? Or, indeed, to get Xine to play DVDs? "fetchnvidia" script problem

Hi everyone, I've just downloaded the latest fetchnvidia script for 9.1 from SUSE.com and after it fetches and installs the driver it gives me and error at the end (it doesn't say "Installation succesful."), it was some kind of a sintax error. Is there a problem with the script??? Because my GUI works fine and OpenGL also works, but when I switch to text terminals, it is not showing what it supposed to. It looks like a display error, but I can switch back to the GUI. I thank you all in advance. Andrew. P.S. I have a GeForce FX5200 and the script downloaded 5336 version of the nvidia drivers. 9.0 Accounting software

Hi all, W.R.T. accounting software, I know about and have tried GnuCash + MoneyDance and found them both unsatisfactory. Being a current Quicken 98 user doesn't help either. I am looking to either get Quicken working on linux via Wine or an equal opensource option which can run on linux natively. Looking through the email I received from Icewalkers today I noticed that a new version of OPEN BUSINESS ACCOUNTING/INVENTORY had been released and was wondering if anyone has used the app and how it compares to Quicken? Zapping

Hi, When in SuSE 9.1 I start "zapping" (gnome tv app), it shows a flat black window, instead of the TV. If I go to "preferences", it locks, I have to kill it. Channel search seems to work, though: except that channels are not saved. Other TV apps, like xawtv, work. If I start zapping after closing xawtv, it works - but only in overlay mode (and with a non-resizeable window); if I switch to capture, I get (copied by hand): "Cannot start capturing: tveng25.cp_tveng25_qbuf:1569: ioctl VIDIOC_QBUF failed:22, Invalid argument". The included version is 0.7cvs20040129.
