Hi, When in SuSE 9.1 I start "zapping" (gnome tv app), it shows a flat black window, instead of the TV. If I go to "preferences", it locks, I have to kill it. Channel search seems to work, though: except that channels are not saved. Other TV apps, like xawtv, work. If I start zapping after closing xawtv, it works - but only in overlay mode (and with a non-resizeable window); if I switch to capture, I get (copied by hand): "Cannot start capturing: tveng25.cp_tveng25_qbuf:1569: ioctl VIDIOC_QBUF failed:22, Invalid argument". The included version is 0.7cvs20040129. I have tried to compile the last stable version from sources (zapping-0.6.8.tar.bz2), but I get an error that shouldn't be there: In file included from /opt/gnome/include/gnome-1.0/libgnome/libgnome.h:39, from /opt/gnome/include/gnome-1.0/gnome.h:16, from audio.c:23: /opt/gnome/include/gnome-1.0/libgnome/gnome-util.h:29: error: conflicting types for `G_FILE_TEST_EXISTS' /opt/gnome/include/glib-2.0/glib/gfileutils.h:69: error: previous declaration of `G_FILE_TEST_EXISTS' /opt/gnome/include/gnome-1.0/libgnome/gnome-util.h:35: error: conflicting types for `g_file_test' /opt/gnome/include/glib-2.0/glib/gfileutils.h:76: error: previous declaration of `g_file_test' make[2]: *** [audio.o] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/compilaciones/zapping-0.7/zapping-0.6.8/src' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/compilaciones/zapping-0.7/zapping-0.6.8' make: *** [all] Error 2 There are errors in the system libraries, in file /opt/gnome/include/gnome-1.0/libgnome/gnome-util.h and others. xawtv crashes to easily here (when editing station names, of all things! a reproducible bug, by the way), and doesn't seem to have a autotune or auto-find-stations. Also, when I click on it it pops a menu instead of just getting the focus as a well behaved application. That's a nuisance. I find zapping to have the exact amount of features I want, so I want it to run. If it is included on the DVD, it must run. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

Check motv for the auto-tune / auto-find options. motv is the Gnome version of xawtv so it uses the same .xawtv conf file. I've never had zapping work but then I have an ATI All-In-Wonder and they are a challenge versus a stand alone TV card. Stan

Well, that's nicer - still a far cry from zapping, though (which worked perfectly in SuSE 8.2) But I can not change stations names neither in motv nor xawtv! Not even editing the .xawtv file directly. The first station is named "A3", according to the file. But in the screen it shows as "Nederland 1" - impossible to change. There is no "Nederland" string in the configuration file! Where on earth is it getting that station name? I have scanned all the stations again. I changed all stations names to usefull names, saved, restarted: no way, "A3" is on a diferent place, but it shows as "Nederland 1". In fact, I'm getting stations that are not on the .xawtv file. Side note: That "Nederland 1" names comes from the fact that the station reports itself by that name. My guess is that they bought the equipment from some Nederlands company - and they never bothered to change the name to the real "Antena 3", or that they didn't pay the support to get it changed. Shame on them! But that doesn't have anything to do with the fact that neither motv nor xawtv allows me to change some station names! (I have grepped my whole home dir, and there is no file with "Nederland 1" ont it - except my mailbox) I still want zapping back! :-/ -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

I got it working a bit. I compiled my own (zapping-0.7cvs20040129-59). Choosing "preferences" crashes it (no report printed with -debug), but chanel scan works, and things like "teletext" also work - even the help works Next thing will be using strace or some thing similar to see where it gets stuck. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
