I've just got around the trying to enable DVD reading on my PC with 9.1 installed. I've installed all the relevant xine packages from packman, including xine-ui. However, it won't play the DVD - it complains that there is no input plugin to handle DVDs. Also, I cannot install the Kaffeine RPM from packman - it needs qt 3.3.2 and kdelibcs3 3.2.2, whereas SUSE 9.1 comes with 3.3.1 and 3.2.1, respectively. Can anyone suggest how I could get Kaffeine enabled to play DVDs? Or, indeed, to get Xine to play DVDs? I've already tried that (after I posted my last) - it plays the DVD but gives sound only, not video :-/ Odd that it's being difficult - I had no problems on earlier versions of SUSE :-( John -- John Pettigrew Headstrong Games john@headstrong-games.co.uk Fun : Strategy : Price http://www.headstrong-games.co.uk/ Board games that won't break the bank Knossos: escape the ever-changing labyrinth before the Minotaur catches you!

OK, I sorted it by stripping everything xine-related out of my install and starting again with the packman RPMs. Kaffeine, I had to compile myself because I couldn't get the Packman RPM to install because of dependencies on newer versions of Qt and kdelibs3. I found that I had to download packman's 9.0 version of kaffeine because of the qt dependencies. I sent them a note a while back but it hasn't been fixed yet. -- Robert C. Paulsen, Jr. robert@paulsenonline.net
