qt3 under 8.0 not recognised?

Hi, I'm trying to compile KBillar (a KDE game) but when running ./configure I get: "checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.0.2) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!". In YaST2, I see that qt3 version 3.0.3-15 is installed. Version 2.3.2-138 is installed as well. Could that be the problem? If so, would it be safe to remove the old version or would I get other packages to quit working? I don't use KDE as my window manager (I use WindowMaker), but I do use some of their programs. Is it right that you need to have all KDE packages of the same version? I use SuSE linux professional (upgrade) 8.0. Unfortunately the SuSE LinuKS service on the SuSE website does not offer KDE packages for versions older than 8.1. Would it be a good idea to just remove my complete KDE installation with YaST and compile all KDE packages from source (overnight) or would that not solve anything? Thanks, Vinay

[SLE] OpenOffice troubles

Anyone run into this that could give me a hand in solving it? /opt/OpenOffice.org/program/setup.bin: error while loading shared libraries: /opt/OpenOffice.org/program/widgets/gtk/libvcl645li.so: undefined symbol: XineramaIsActive Any help would be appreicated. Thanks, James

OT: Hardware question

I have an old laptop hard drive that I put in an external hard drive case. I know that it came with a power tap for connecting into the keyboard (5V?) if required due to lack of power off USB. But I would like to buy (junk store has tons, I probably do to) an external transformer. Due to lateness of the hour and brain being fried thanks to continual problems with next door neighbor (thinks my property is thiers, and loves to threaten me with the Pit Bulls) I am making it harder then it should be. I should know it but 4-5 hours of sleep a night has taken a toll on me . Thanks for the help Hopefully things will settle and I will get my head screwed on straight again. Randal

Can't speak of the hotels but how about some basics on the DHCP. At least these are what is followed in my area by both cable providers and so I have been told also local DSL. You get 1 ip address for the price, to hook up another computer disconnect the first one, connect the other one, and recycle the modem. If you are using a hub, disconnet the first one and recycle the modem. If you are using one of the many routers (nat devices) see if it has an option of keeping the mac address of the working computer, then providing your dhcp locally. I haven't set up a router with Linux for this yet, when I got a nat box for $20.00 back in the day when they were $100.00, I couldn't pass up. My locals have talked about (don't think it will happen) setting it up so only the one mac address is approved. If your card dies you must provide it to them and then give them the replacement mac address. Went over like a Lead Balloon. Combining mail parts sent by Outlook

Hi, somebody sent me a mail with a massive attachment from Outlook. Outlook divided it into parts. When receiving it in Outlook, the parts are easily recombined to reconstruct the attachment. How do I do it in KMail? Thanks Nico

logrotate follow-up

I went ahead and removed the logrotate rpm i had installed then downloaded it again and tried to install. when i run rpm -i log* , i get this.. dss-sa9928699:~ # rpm -i logrotate-3.5.9-106.i386.rpm Exception in ../SRC/services.c, line 299 concerning file not opened var/tmp/rpm-tmp.92164: line 3: etc/rc.config.xtract: No such file or directory execution of logrotate-3.5.9-106 script failed, exit status 1 dss-sa9928699:~ # ...any ideas?

Php & Interbase

Hi, Does any one know of an rpm of php with Interbase compiled in ? Or where to get the loadable module for it ? I'm using SuSE 9, and AFAIK it's not included. I am trying to compile php, but configuring it takes ages on the 300MHz machine I'm using. Every time it stops saying that libraries are missing, then I need to install these and start over again.
