How do I list an ip so that covers the whole range of the last numbers?
E.g 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.0.256 = 192.168.0.0/?
Thanks,
Tom

I have an 8-bit mono wav file. When I compress it using lame into an mp3 file
the mp3 file sounds like Micky Mouse on speed. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
I'm completely new to imap. I'm running Suse 8.2 with KDE 3.2. I've installed
imapd and have it running in xinetd, from the suse cd.
I'm trying to get a mail client to connect, but have not been successful. I
ran the openssl req..... as outlined in the suse help page and I think that
worked fine. However I can't get a client to connect. I've tried both on
internal IP address, and from external to IP domain. It advises that a
connection could not be established. (I don't think this is relevant, but
I've tried Outlook, Pegasus, and Thunderbird).
I can telnet in from internal and external, and get OK [COMPATABILITY
IMAP4REV1 STARTTLS LOGINDISABLED].....
From here I don't know what else to do or type. Any advice?
Also, I don't know if the client should be configured to use direct SSL or
StartTLS.
Thanks for any advice.

An acquintance & I are attempting some encryption. I am able to decrypt his
notes but he cannot decrypt mine. We both have keys and have signed each
others' key; I am encrypting using the recipient's key, yet he cannot decrypt
my note.
I certainly could use some guidance. I have already RTFM on several occasions
and there is something I am certain that is getting by me.
Thanks...

Having doggedly made the transition from Windoz, there are only a couple
of things more that I need in apps, one of them is a basic accounting
program that is a little more functional (ie flexibility with respect to
online downloads from banking institutions) than either gnucash or
kmoney. Previous to this all my basic needs were filled via Quicken.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it possible to trace an email message routing?
MS Outlook had a useful feature where one could see whether a message had
arrived at the recipient, if it had been read/rejected etc.
Is it possible to do this? I am currently using KMail.
Many thanks,

Thanks for the Yast help, and kjots works to a degree. Sometimes a new book
will strangely dissapear. At startup from command line the following errors:

Hi all,
Suddenly, out of the blue, my stock standard cdrecord on SUSE 9.0 Pro stopped
working. Yes, I have changed some things since the last time I used it -
compiled and installed KDE 3.2 - I don't see that that should interfere.
Either ways, I'm getting this error:cdrecord: Permission denied. Cannot open
'/dev/pg1'. Cannot open SCSIdriver.
Why cdrecord would like to use /dev/pg1 I don't know - as I understand pg1 is
a parallel port device of sorts. I have searched the archives and found
references to the problem, but no solution or at least an rough idea of *why*
cdrecord would suddenly want to access /dev/pg1 instead of sr1/sg1 - same for
google.
Things I've tried:
-reinstalled cdrecord from the SUSE DVD
-messed around with the permissions of /dev/pg1
-messed aronnd with the permissions of the cdrecord binary
-tried k3bwsetup2 (both stock and 0.11.5 I d/l and compiled yesterday) on the
permissions-
tried compiling vanilla cdrecord - couln't get it to compile, couln't get
smake to compile to use that either.
-reboot (shock horror :-)
cdrecord does work as root though, but even setuid root on cdrecord doesn't
helpcdrdao has no problem workin either as user or root.
Any ideas why this is bugging me?
Thanks

Dear All,
I have my Suse 8.2 distro setup with samba 2.28a and use webmin mostly
for samba configuration. I have 3 computers networked using samba. I use
a SpeedStream wireless/wired router which is directly wired into my Suse
8.2(samba server).
My husband's computer is hooked up to the only printer(HP 940c deskjet)
and has windows 98 SE . I , also, have a laptop that is wirelessly
hooked up to this router.
I can browse easily now through LinNeighborhood on my Suse 8.2, and I
can see my linuxserver from windows 98 Network Neighborhood. I can
browse and open the shared folders that are my husband's when I am using
his win 98 computer, but whenever I try to open the linux computer from
Network Neighborhood I get the IPC$ password box that does not accept
any passwords. I have studied this for weeks and cannot get around it
yet. I have share security setup and encrypted passwords. I did not want
to change windows 98 to unencrypted but if that is the only way I will
since this is only a home private network with 2 people using the
computers-----certainly a trusted network.
I believe this could be a permission problem or a password problem even
though I did what I can to make sure all the passwords, users, etc are
the same on both computers. I cannot figure this out. Here is my
smb.conf which shows what a newbie I am at this I am sure. Any help will
be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much. Marcia
