SuSE Help System and Apache2

I don't know why YaST installed Apache2 on my system, but after it did, I get the Apache default index.html, not the SuSE page that points to the documentation. I use that documentation, and I use the url to get to it. I want that functionality back. Do I simply need to uninstall apache2 (and perhaps reinstall apache 1.3), or can I do something to make it work with apache2? The latter option is more attractive, if it's straightforward. Hello all, how do you test to see what perl modules are installed? Is there a quick command that does this for Perl? Something like how we can do "rpm -qa" to see all rpm's installed... many thanks, Ahbaid

Hardware question...

Hi all... I've got a hub and the transformer burned up. So as a replacement I got the type that has multi-value for the volts, ie from 0 to 12v. My hub uses 5v, but the transformer has only 4.5 and 6v. I put the dial about between the two. It works, but is this good? It also works when I set it at 6v, but could this be too much? Any ideas? Unofficial SuSEFAQ project needs your help

Hi everyone, As the subject header says the project needs your help in adding new content. While I am still unpacking the big part is finished and I can play with my projects again. However, while I was away SuSE 9.0 came lots of new comers joined etc. etc . As a result I was not able to follow the current threads since October and that is in a few days two months time. So I need FAQ entries the question and the answer just in simple text format (yes putting url links so that I can follow the thread will help) Any mini howto's are also welcomed send it to my direct attention note: my mail server does not like spam at all so make sure you have your reverse address delegated. KDE gone cracy

Hello there, it seems I have a severe problem with my SuSE 9.0 KDE (not upgraded!). For some time now (I do not know if this a coincidence with the online upgrade I did) KDE applications have severe problems: - the konqueror needs about 2-3 minutes to start (I start it via console or icon, the cursor shows the symbol for loading, in the task bar a sign appears, then all this disappears and I have the impression that konqueror will not start....then after a longer time the window pops up out of nowhere) - kmail crashes regularly when I start a new Email and type the first letter for the recipient (the cursor becomes a clock and that's it; although if I type the email text, there is no such problem - kprinter locks up: when I send a job to kprinter, I see the kprinter window and another smaller status window saying initializing printer system, and then nothing happens When I lock out after one of those incidents I can no longer log in to KDE, as it stops while initializing system services. If this is not strange enough, sometimes I could print, sometimes I could write an email and sometimes konqueror starts straight away! I made a new user, but there the printer problem remains (the email problem not, but as this seems to be a problem with auto completion this is easy to understand). I know these problems are queer, but perhaps someone had the same problems or at least has a idea where the error is to be found. sa-learn refuses to learn.

Hello SuSE people. Originally set up spamassassin and had it learn from my mailboxes in Kmail. worked fine. I set up a special spam mailbox with a sub-mailbox named MissedSpam in which I placed spam that was slipping through. Now I want sa-learn to check on that mailbox and learn from it. What I do is, cd into: '/home/bob/Mail' and then do a: "# sa-learn --spam --mbox -f /spam/MissedSpam" Then I get this strange message. "No such file or directory at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/Mail/SpamAssassin/CmdLearn.pm line 120." Can somebody, please, tell me what I am doing wrong here? Bob S.

Apache2 config with SuSE 9.0 secure Directory

Hello all, For days now I have been tryiong to configure my Apache2 server I have read the How-to and donc from apache.. but I cant get to work the directory with password protection. there is 2 config file in SuSE 9.0 for apache2... when in the directives : if I put <Directory /path_to_directory/restricted_directory> with AllowOverride AuthConfig and other config param </Directory> it does not work. but if I put <Directory /> with AllowOverride AuthConfig and other config param </Directory> it work .. when a user connect to the web page he get ask for user_name & passwd.. but that is not what I want.. I only want to protect some directory.. I have also try putting the .htpasswd & .htaccess in the directory that I want to protect but they are ignore by the server.. can anybody point me to what might be the problem..what do I need to look for in order to resolve this issue. mod_ssl connection refused error

Is there anything else I must do under 9.0 to add ssl to a running apache setup other than install mod_ssl?
