Patrick Sh., I'm goggled out, no help. I'm getting the following rcp error. I've started the following daemons. I know the NFS Server is good cause I have a successful RH NFS client talking to it. What is the firewall daemon? There is no daemon, but you can check your rules with iptables -L If you get a ton of stuff there, then your firewall is running. If so, you need to either turn it off ("rcSuSEfirewall2 stop" if it's a recent-ish suse version) or make sure port 111 is allowed through it Also check on the server, both firewall rules and /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny to make sure the rules don't block this new client. Brana & Marcos, Regarding full-duplex, thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, neither ethtool nor mii-tool seem to be able to do anything with the r8169 nic: # ethtool eth0 Settings for eth0: No data available # mii-tool SIOCGMIIPHY on 'eth0' failed: Operation not supported no MII interfaces found I tried building/installing the v2.2 driver posted on the Realtek site, but wasn't able to connect to the network when I had installed that driver. There have been some posts about a module/kernle patch, but I'm not sure which is the current/correct version. -Dave Horita

SuSE 9.1 over SATA-Raid SiI-3512

Hi. I'm trying to install SuSE 9.1 Professional over a Seagate SATA-150 200 GB disk. The mobo is a GigaByte GA-7N400 Pro2 rev. 2 (Bios FI) with the SATA-Raid controller SiI-3512 (from Silicon Image). The disk is detected by SuSE, but after partitioning is defined and installation starts, the system hangs (at 2% of installation). If I type ACPI=off, the system hangs too. If I try the "manual installation" and load the sata_sil module, the system hangs while partitioning. Could someone help me?. Best regards. Ventura P.S.: Sorry for my bad english.

SuSE 9.1 Pro - Heimdal/Samba/Active Directory

I'm trying to get one of my SuSE 9.1 Pro systems to communicate to my university's Microsoft Active Directory Servers. I currently have heimdal-0.6.1rc3-55.6, heimdal-lib-0.6.1rc3-51, and the samba 3.0.7 rpms from SuSE installed on the system. When I try to get a ticket through kinit, I get the following error message: kinit: krb5_get_init_creds: Response too big for UDP, retry with TCP I have a few questions: Does Heimdal-0.6.1rc3 support kerberos over TCP? If it does, what modifications do I need to allow in /etc/krb.conf to allow for it to be used? I'm trying to minimise the number of packages that I have to build on the system to insure consistency in my orginisation, I'm hoping to find a solution that utilises what comes with a "stock" SuSE install to take advantage of the online updates. No doubt, this is the client. I desperatly started all nfs daemons, in hopes of getting rid of of this RPC obstacle. I never turned on the firewall or messed with the /etc/allow,deny, never had to. What is the firewall daemon? iptables and netfilter are the linux firewall user space and kernel module respectively. If they aren't enabled then it's not an issue in your case. If netfilter is running then you need to check your rules to be sure it's not blocking the ports you need. Take a look in /var/log/messages after a failed mount attempt to see if there are any useful messages there. SquidAnalyzer live reporting

Hi guys, I'm using SquidAnalyzer ( http://www.samse.fr/GPL/SquidAnalyzer/ ) for pinpointing problems a client is having with bandwidth usage. Problem is I have to do it by hand (or a cronjob). Is there a way to have it process the logs as they get written and have it build up the html report bit by bit over time?
