Changing Monitors

When I change monitors on a SUSE 8.0 box, the system runs the new monitor screwy, where I can't see anything other than blurry, squiggly lines. If I try running Sax2 from another console, that's of little use. Running the rescue system, or attempting one of the installation approaches seems to require going through the WHOLE installation routine again. Do I need to edit the config file by hand? I just am not sure if there is a better way. Hi, If I try to build any of my drivers (e100,e1000,bcm5700,vlan) in SuSE9, I am seeing the message "unsupported module, tainting kernel". But this is not creating any other problem. I want to know why is this message coming? Issuing exportfs on the nfs server, looks great. Is it in an allowed subnet? Does the user have permissions on the filesystem to be mounted? Does the server have a firewall that might block the connection? This doesn't look like a server error but at this point I don't have any other suggestions. Message log window

Hi All, I remember in earlier editions (7.3 ish) there was a small terminal like window on the desktop which carried some of the system messages. At the time I always got rid of it as I didn't understand how useful it could be. Now, I'd like to get it back but I don't know what it was and it doesn't come up by default any more. Any pointers? I still haven't seen a solution on how to be able to use 8-bit coded characters in the subject line. I have several php webapps that produces e-mails, and none of these seem to be capable of making an e-mail subject that includes our Swedish characters 'å ä ö Å Ä Ö'. I get e-mails daily WITH those chars. In the subject, so it certainly is possible. I looked in the header info in one of these e-mails, and the subject in the header is "Subject: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Fl=E4kts_ljudniv=E5?=" Where the subject is displayed as "Fläkts ljudnivå". Any ideas? Thanks, I'll check that README later on. I know about the 'special' update program, but I haven't been able to find it on the SLOX box or on the CDs, and I want to add as little as possible to this box in an attempt to keep it as vanilla as possible. Uninstall MySQL Cleanly and Completely?

My computer is running slow ever since i installed the MySQL server and client...I wanted to dabble with it, but now I've decided I just wanna get rid of it. How do I cleanly/completely uninstall every last remnant of MySQL, cuz I see the daemon and other stuff running automatically when I boot the box.
