HELP ME PLEASE: Compiling Error

When I compile my .c (cc -o proc2 proc2.c), Suse 7.3 (Live Edition) says: /usr/i486-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lgcc Collect 2: ld returned 1 exit status How can I resolve this problem? TNX

Yesterday I ran YOU for the first time, under Suse 8.0 with the following results: 1) it said it woul send 15MB, so I might consider changing my mind. (I calced 15MB over dialup to 64 minutes. After 30 mB and three hours, it disconnected me from the server. 2) When I boot, I now go to a console to log on, not directly to KDE, although startx gets me to KDE 3) I can no longer access the internet. It dials, connects, pwd ok, then disc with an error saying the /etc/ppp/peers/kppp file is missing. 4) I am also getting permission errors when searching after logging in as SU. Related? In the meantime, I have been reduced to accessing the new via win me. faster but more cutsie than I want. help ... help ... HELP! John R. Sowden American Sentry Systems, Inc. U.L. Need help with mozilla and 8.0

When I link to the java libjavaplugin_oij.so it shows up in mozilla/plugins but is with a ? mark and highlighting it says link to unknown. the pdf nppdf seems to appear Ok but when I try to open a pdf it does nothing. Weird APM Behaviour (I think)

Once I activated apmd using runlevel in yast2 and the activation process ended up wreaking havoc on my system. Different things would no longer work after I suspended the notebook --among which were: network, internet, the link for starting/stopping smbfs, to name the most important. Since I had to get some actual work done, and the system was working improperly, I installed another distro to get my 2-week backlog caught up, then reinstalled SuSE8.2 PE & installed the updates. I made the conscious decision to *not* add apmd to runlevel, but instead I manually invoked it from the suid shell before suspending the box overnight. This morning everything worked --network access, internet, the works --for three hours, roughly. I got my e-mail, created some filters on the incoming, then decided to click on a URL within one of the messages. The dialog box came up and the browser never loaded. The wheels just kept on spinning. I invoked 'rcnetwork restart' from root and tried again. This time, I was immediately greeted with 'cannot find host' or whatever the message is. Pinging from konsole yielded the same results. It took a reboot before things would work as before. I am just puzzled, and do not know where to start! ...CH -- SuSE is all U need 2 drive U nuts.

KDE 3.0.3 --> 3.1.2 update on SuSE 8.1 : known problems?

Hi, I want to upgrade my SuSE 8.1 KDE (3.0.3) to the new 3.1.2 and have spent a couple of ours grepping the list archives for known problems. This is what I've found: a) Somebody updated from 3.04 to 3.11 and ended up with a system that wouldn't do X or sax2. --> Has that been seen with 3.03 to 3.1.2 as well? Fixes? b) On a 8.2 installation an upgrade to 3.1.2 was done and yast2 would no longer exit gracefully unless something was installed. --> QT3 packages from /pub/people/mfabian/ are supposed to fix that. Correct? c) In some combination Pixiplus had to be removed before kdelibs would install. --> Is that still the case? d) Quite a few ppl have experienced losing a lot of fonts during the update. --> Is that still the case for the update I'm planning? Known fixes? Did I miss some important issues? Are there any more probs? My system is a pretty standard 8.1 without any major changes. I downloaded the new rpms from the SuSE-ftp-Server to one dir and would just install them using rpm -Uvh *rpm. 1) Has anybody done such an update and cares to share his/her experiences and tips/warnings? 2) Do I have to update all KDE-rpms that are currently installed? thanks for any input, Hansen -- Powered by SuSE 8.1 - KDE 3.0.3 - KMail 1.4.3

Xlib help matlab install

Dear all, I'm trying to install Matlab on SuSE 8.1. The install program that comes with it says: Xlib: connection to "0:0" refused by server Xlib: No protocol specified and then stops. It also has a manual/text option (-t) for install and which works but doesn't install it completely and at the end it just says please see your manual for further details on how to complete installation (manual which I don't have). So if there is anyone out there that knows what the error message means and how to get round it and/or how to install matlab in text mode please get back to me. cheers, j. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
