Failure to compile

Dear all, I am unable to compile _any_ of the following packages on my Stock SL 8,2 system [gcc-3.3. etc] from sources.. 1. avifile [avifile.sf.net] 2. mplayer 0.90 [the final release] 3. Flightgear Flight simulator All the builds break and the issues are name::name2:name [C++] syntax related, or some structure being undeclared, although nowhere do I get a warning which might hint to sources being absent. Has anyone else successfully built these packages lately. USB problems (usb stick) with 8.2 [AGAIN]

Hi, I have a problem with a USB stick. Whenever I plug the stick in, the stick is noticed, the correct modules are loaded (usb-storage), but when I try to mount the device (/dev/sda1) it hangs. Strange thing is that after a fews times retrying it works... And on a 7.3 machine it works perfectly! New today on www.usr-local-bin.org * Themes section - Not intended as a replacement for art.gnome.org or any of the other theme sites, simply to provide SuSE packaged versions of themes, and more importantly, GTK2 engines. - Initially includes the new gnome-themes-extras package, which contains the Gorilla, Nuvola, Lush and Wasp themes, as well as the BlueSphere engine. - Also available, it's dependency, the lighhouseblue engine. - Requires Ximian's artwork package for the Industrial engine These newly packaged themes are gorgeous, which is why I've packaged them up for the site, Nuvola is the first theme in about a year to drag me away from Fishing The Sky (or Smokey Blue as it's called in SuSE 8.2), and all four themes are supremely professional looking. Enjoy them, I know I do. Thanks again for the advice Zentara. I build and installed BerkeleyDB ( the latest version ) from sources and copied over the db.h file to the Suse installed db.h location. I then built and tested the Berkely DB perl interface. It complained about having incompatible versions of db. So I also overwrote some library files to fix that little issue. That seemed to allow the Berkeley DB perl test to run better. However, Postfix was unable to handle its .db files now. So I backed everything out so that I could keep postfix running. Now the question is, do I need to compile Postfix after upgrading Berkeley DB or something? help: turning touchpad on while typing

Hello everyone, Does anyone know whether it is possible under SuSE 8.2 to turn the touchpad off while typing? sound card problem

hi i have a asus mainboard and onboard sound card. from yast2 it shows autodetect "sis-silicon integrated systems" but it gives like a warning "kernel module off for sound card cant be loaded" how can i solve this problem best regards

If you have the package alsa installed, it should already be on your system. Sorry for the confusion, I always use the latest from the alsa site. Opera 7.11

just installed opera 7.11 and now when i try to run it, it goes thru the process of opening then just doesnt open! it all seemed to install ok
