Proxy settings in 8.2

I've posted this before but if you don't mind I'll try again in the hope that someone will know an answer.I've googled and FAQ'd to no avail, so if any network gurus can help, I'd be grateful. I'm not sure where to look for error messages. I'm currently in Qatar on business, working in a hospital that runs a Windows 2000 network. I can have access to this, have a username and password, and the IT dept set up the Windows XP Pro installation on my laptop to use the proxy server on port 8080. I can surf the web from Windows OK but can't access my pop3 mail. I dual boot the laptop with 8.2, though and would prefer to use that. I have set up the NIC (DHCP) and proxy settings in YaST with the same settings as in Windows, but I can't access the internet. I have also set up the proxy in the browser (tried konqueror and mozilla). Despite specifying that konqueror should ask for a username/password as needed, it doesn't. I just get an error message, saying connection refused, authentication error. What am I missing here in terms of set up? Since days I am struggling to setup my simple network. I have read TFM. I have looked at the info and man pages but does not seem to get it right. I have two computers connected with a twisted cable. I am still running 8.1 but would like to get the basics right before I install 8.2. Situation: ISP pop3 dialup 202.195.32.2 and 202.195.33.2 home net: name) constant.net. 192.168.0.0 computer 1. PII, name ) bigone, 192.168.0.1 computer 2. P100. name) p100. 192.168.0.2 Computer 2 should send emails and connect to the net via computer 1. On Computer 1 postfix and fetchmail are running and they seem to work. Yast2: network address setup eth0.) IP Address 192.168.0.1. Subnet mask) 255.255.255.0. Think above input is correct. Yast2, Host name and name server setup Hostname) bigone, Domain name) constant.net Name server 1) 202.159.33.2 Name server 2) 202.195.32.2 Domain search 1) constant.net No check boxes are crossed here. temporary name server fails

Do not why but since today after I worked some on my setup, added another dialup number to the two I had already, I get following information and cannot dial out: POP3 connection to pop.indo.net.id failed: temporary name server error. fetchmail Query status=2 (SOCKET) This ip address is what I use now with my dos email program and which I have used the last five years. It is possible that with my fine tuning I have changed something inadvertently but I have not seen anything which was not as before. Any ideas. I am running 8.2, fetchmail and postfix. My mailer is Kmail. -- NTReader v0.36w(P)/Beta (Registered) in conjunction with Net-Tamer.

NSPluginViewer crashing.

Hey all, Running a freshly installed 8.2 system on an AMD Athlon 2,0GHz, with 768 MB RAM, and have run YOU to get the necessary updates. I am trying to view : http://www.richsalter.btinternet.co.uk/ In konqueror which contains a flash file for Clay Kitten Shooting ;). The problem I am having is that nspluginviewer crashes with signal 11 when the page opens! The page works fine under Win98, and I would love to have it work on my SuSE box. I am trying to persuade my partner to switch - she already loves the online journal update programs, the funkeh games, but flash sites are something of a useful thing (tm) for her, especially fun ones like this ;) Thank you for your time. When I compile my .c (cc -o proc2 proc2.c), Suse (Live Edition) says: /usr/i486-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lgcc Collect 2: ld returned 1 exit status How can I resolve this problem? TNX

Call me old-fashioned, hehe, but I still burn my CDs from console... But I imagine to do all that in a script or at least in a pipe. Now, knowing that I am no good at that, I ask you. How would I "mkisofs" the image and actually burn it in ONE line? Audigy2 and SuSE

I was wondering if the Audigy 2 sould card will work with SuSE 8.2? A freind downloaded the LiveEval CD and stated that the system saw the card as the Audigy and installed it but there was no sound. I was wondering if anyone here knew if it was supported out of the box or is there something that I would have to recompile to get it to work?
