I want these disks in RAID 1 (mirror) and to be bootable. I can't install SuSE 8.1 Pro because install routine doesn't recognize RAID controller, so it cannot see SCSI disks. I tried to load aacraid module, but I only got a message: aacraid.o: init_module - No such device. I tried with many parameters (io, irq...) without succes. Adaptec says on many places that he support SuSE Linux with proper driver (on CD, on Web...). There is a note about something that SuSE Linux cannot boot from Adaptec RAID disks, but it can be solved (first to remove SCSI driver). I tried to install SuSE Linux 8.1 Pro on IDE disk and then try to install RAID driver, but no success. How can I load aacraid module on the proper way? Is there some parameters needed to be specified? I know all parameters about controller (io, slot, pci, irq...), because Yast2 can find it and shows all informations. Can SuSE Linux 8.1 boot from RAID disks? Is there better Adaptec RAID support in SuSE 8.2? network card

Hi I installed SuSE 8.2 Pro on a box with a SMC 83C170QF EtherPower II 10/100 network card. During the installation the network card was detected and I was able to configure it and also to do a first online update to the system. After the first reboot, I see that the modules for the network card are loaded and everything seems fine but I can not establish a connection to other computers in the network/internet. A ping to the the machine itself works, but to other computers fails with 100% loss of packages. I disabled the firewall completely, so this could not be the problem. Could you help, please?

Hi, 1. I learnt in a php book that; in httpd.conf; this line should exist to enable dso for apache: LoadModule php4_modulelibexec/libphp4.so But it doesn't. Should i add it to enable dso? 2. httpd.conf: # Note: this email address is set by SuSEconfig according to the setting of the # HTTPD_SEC_SERVERADMIN variable in /etc/sysconfig/apache! ServerAdmin webmaster(a)linux.local /etc/sysconfig/apache: # If empty ("") it defaults to root@$FQHOSTNAME. FQHOSTNAME is set in # /etc/sysconfig/network/config. HTTPD_SEC_SERVERADMIN="" And in /etc/sysconfig/network/config; there's no FQHOSTNAME statement. So, which file should i modify? 3. In /var/spool/mail; there's only one spool, and that's root. How can i create another spool for webmaster(a)linux.local? Thanks..

Took your advice and tried to enable DMA. However something keeps on switchig it off. I suspect my bios is responsible but I'll look into it more tonight and get back to y'all. Just found that asus (motherboards www.asus.com.tw) have a support table for some of their products, although SuSE is listed to version 7.2. scsijon

8.2 hardware question - long winded for a simple question, but!

Firstly, i've looked in SuSE's hardware compatability list and this doesn't get a mention using all the search methods, which is why i'm asking on list (no flame). I have a number of Gigabyte FB2CB's on the way. Their intended to be dual boot until a couple of linux applications are stable when another company I provide help for will be able to give m$ the boot. They are small footprint machines and use the Intel 845G/ICH4 Chipset. This contains Intel's 'Intel Extreme Graphics' for video. Intel's site says it's Linux compatable (and even have a redhat driver). HI all! I have just finished install SuSE 8.0 on my machine. Via the control center I have install apache. When I try to start apache I get this error: Failed to start apache : Starting httpd [ PHP4 ]stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device Any ideas?? Regards from Denmark! Dan

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Ok, now the other issue with my upgrade in place (not a clean install) is a usb issue. Ok, so I have my usb keyboard and mouse plugged in, as per the previous setup. After the initial setup no mouse or keyboard, or promise/hde there for now. So setup fails at the confirmation point after the setup and stops before installation actually begins. Well, the lack of the install going beyond the setup before actually laying down the software is do to the promise card - which I solve. Now, after solving this I get the software to install and everything looks cool until first reboot and no usb = no mouse or keyboard, and even worse it hangs at usb recognition. So, go to bios turn off usb ports (all 4x2, yes two 1.0 ports with 2 inputs and the same for the 2 2.0 ports). Plug in the kbd and mouse in the ps2 ports and off I go. So, today I think I'll go and get this set up -> bios ->usb ports on (just started with ports 1 and 2 = v1.0) and hangs. Hit magicsysreq and it mentions something about unrecognized keycodes at blah blah ports. So, I think maybe it's reading an old config file and hiccupping because it isn't getting input from the kbk and/or mouse. So, plug them in and see = hang at hwscan hotplug ... usb... again. Try turning on legacy support = no. Try turning on emulate 60/64 addressing whatever stuff - no, hang. Turn various versions on and off = no go regardless of what combintations, ports, devices, kernel boot parametes (usbcore usb-uhci, or usb-ohci, hwscan=-c03:*:*) zero, zip, zilch. So, a figure I'll post and see if anyone had any suggestions. Now the good part! I go to gather info and notice that every source I check on my machine says ther actually devices hooked up to the usb ports and the indeed the usb ports are there. So, run command "jscalibrator" and sure enough it's working fine! Huh? The ports are turned off in the bios. It's shut down at the source - or so I thought. Hmmmm, how is the OS reading the usb ports and sending/recieving bits... bytes,... ? It's supposedly disabled in the bios settings! Anyone have any suggestions how to get this enable at boot. I guess I could go into the sysconfig editor and turn the hardware scan for usb to no and then enable them in the bios. But I'd like to hear from anyone that might have some insight or different idea or suggestionions.
