It's developing into a nice DTP package along the lines of Quark/Pagemaker. It's being actively developed and looks like it's maturing well. http://web2.altmuehlnet.de/fschmid/ A manual is at: http://www.atlantictechsolutions.com/scribusdocs/index.html StarOffice/Openoffice.org has some nice DTP features - you can flow text between frames for example. I used to do a lot of DTP using Serif Pageplus (nice App!) under Win, so have an interest in the area. HTH, Jason

Scanner module not loading

Installed a new Epson Perfection 2400 Photo scanner recently. All went well after Epson Iscan was installed. Successfully used Iscan, Kooka, XScanImage, and GIMP w/plugin. Now every time I reboot, the module is not loaded, and I have to reinstall the scanner with Yast (it is not shown as an installed or configured scanner). Looked at sysconfig: It showed the scanner module in "Hotplug_USB_Modules_To_Unload". After clearing this entry there is no change. Should I leave this entry alone? The scanner is automatically powered on at reboot during "detecting hotplug devices". To get the scanner to work I have to load the module manually with insmod, then reinstall the scanner with Yast, every time. Please point me in the right direction. TIA Bernd

Multi-key on UTF-8

I was previously using the ISO-8859-1 encoding, and have changed to UTF-8 by setting the RC_LANG variable in /etc/sysconfig to cy_GB.utf8 (which I built using localedef). With 8859 I was able to use the Shift+right-hand Ctrl keys to allow entry of ô, etc. However, after changing to UTF-8, this no longer works. Do I need to do something else to enable this again? Or does it not work with UTF-8? /usr/X11/lib/X11/locale/en_US.UTF-8 refers to a deadkey, but it's not clear which one it is. I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks Kevin

i have to many qt's installed qt3-mysql-3.1.2-5 qt3-unixODBC-3.1.2-5 yast2-ui-qt-2.3.14-1 qt-2.3.2-34 qt-devel-2.3.2-34 qt3-extensions-3.1.2-5 qt3-non-mt-3.1.2-3 qt3-3.1.2-4 qtopia-free-1.5.0-1 qt3-devel-tools-3.1.2-5 qt3-man-3.1.2-5 qtopia-desktop-1.6.0-1 qt3-devel-3.1.2-4 how do i know which is latest? can i remove the rest whichone should be in etc/ld.so.conf

Router/IPChains/named problems

Hi list, using a small suse 7.0 pro router here, and I am a bit puzzled and would like to hear your ideas: I had the router work so that when I entered ping www.gmx.de the router isdn-dialled out and got into the internet, resolving the address. Now I have changed something which I do not remember, and when I enter the same command, the router does no more dial out even though ippp0 is configured to auto dial mode as before. named says it is running (brings back "OK" on status request) The joke is that everything works, when I manually dial out using isdnctrl dial ippp0 - I can then even use the basic routing using ipchains from a windoze computer. But it does not work AUTOMATICALLY as it is supposed to. Where shall I start searching?
