We still push out a lot of OEM machines here for clients and we gave up on Asus, Abit, SuperMicro, etc a year or so ago. Intel makes a great board that is ideal for business machines and not too shabby for occasional gaming. I use one here with a P4 1.6 400MHz FSB and a GeForce4 Ti4200 card to play UT2003 under SuSE 8.1. Runs real nice for me. Another real nice thing about Intel is the warranty. If the board goes you will have another next day. Abit has had me wait for up to 6 weeks for a board. Try telling a customer their server will be down for 6 weeks while the board gets replaced. kde 3.1.1 - kdenetwork packages?

I notice there are no kdenetwork packages for kde 3.1.1 on the kde ftp server in the SuSE 8.1 folder. What happened to these packages? php4.2.2 and JDK1.3

Hy LinUx Boy so i try to make an php4.2.2 with JDK 1.3 and APACHE 1.3.27 so , al the make are good but i have segment error when i test an php page , my page work's nice when i use it from cg-bin or via /usr/local/bin/php /data/www/htdocs/test.ph or http://localhost/cgi/php.cgi?/data/www/htdocs/test.ph this 2 test works but http://localhost/test.php i get inside the apache log an segment error i use it under SuSe 7.2 pro release is there some one have working it without error and how he do it ????? is tomcat 4 with jdk 1.3 works nice under LiNuX SuSe 7.2 ???? so hope to read you soon Hubert --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Try running server daemon on that with the forwarding rules supplied by LinkSys and it's trouble... For example BnetD has issues with it. NWServ has issues with it, and thats just to name a few. If you plan to use one of these for the LAN bear this in mind if you intend to offer externally available services... I noticed the SuSE router/firewall solution was much faster with throughput. Max download speed with router was topping out about 40KBs. With the SuSE router I'm averaging over 70KBs Now this is using DSL on crappy phone lines out here in the boonies, and I realize that bandwidth is a fluctuating thing. Just my $0.02 I'm sure I'm gonna get flamed for this post but I feel I have to voice my discontent on this .. *donning my flame retardant apparel as we speak... Landscape not working

Under SuSE 8.1, I have an Epson C82 running the C80 stp driver. If I tell the printer to print landscape, it doesn't turn the text 180 degrees as I would expect, it formats the page as if it expects me to turn the paper 180 degrees and feed it that way. This was under both Konqueror and KMail. Is there a way to get the landscape behavior that I'm expecting? tia ---Michael -- Penguins eat butterflies, don't they?

Kernel panic troubles

Hey, People, Left for a bit, wasn't planning to have trouble, but... I'm running a dual boot system, and I went into configuration, and removed windows from the list. I'm not quite ready to take it off (but will when I install 8.2), but I don't want others accessing it as it's a security breech. I went into boot loader configuration, and selected "restore orginal defaults". windows was no longer on the "reboot" menu (but still on lilo menu) when I was booting linux, I got a kernal panic, root unable to mount on 3:09. attempted safe settings, which gives the same result. Using the CD (8.0 personal) and "rescue system" I'm able to get to a prompt, but I don't know what to do from there. Help? or failing that, is there any windows programs that will let me access the linux filesystem so I can backup my home directory (about 4 gigs, lots of .mp3's and .oggs), then I'll try to hold out till my copy of 8.2 comes along Joe -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .

Hi all, I'm using suse 8. I must connect to the internet by windows connection. I have a satelite internet connection. I'm using internet by proxy pointing to the windows machine "x.x.x.x" and port 3128. There is a way to make the update on-line to connect that windows machine e port for ftp? Thanks advanced. Filesystem almost full
