Kopete crash

Hi. I have a problem in SuSE 8.2 with kopete (0.6.1a). It crashes suddenly (mostly when I go away for a while :-) with signal 6 (SIGABRT). I use Jabber and ICQ protocol. Any ideas? Greetings, Alex Khroustalev.

Suse/Apache ... help please !!!!!

HI All, My server is located in San Diego CA. We had to yank the server from the building it was in because of the threat of fire... The fire was one street over!! Fortunatlely the SDFD was able to ward off the flames and the building was saved.. After plugging our server back in and trying to start apache ... I am receiving the following error: Starting httpd [ Mailman PHP4 ]stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device ..failed I don't understand... nothing has changed! I have never received this error before?? Note: I have not logged in from the machine itself... only through webmin... sendmail works, qpopper works... Any ideas? Paul

SOLVED!! unable to boot HP ze4125 laptop with SuSE 9

Hi all, Just want to shortly explained how I got SuSE 9 installed on my HP ze4125 pavilion laptop. The problem: Unable to get past welcome screen while trying to boot. The solution: Copy contents of DVD or CDs onto NFS server as described in the SuSE handbook. Then boot from 8.2 install disk (The 20mb net install disks available for free download will do.), choose manual install, load network device module, choose the NFS install method, enter the share on the server that includes the disk(s) you copied over and then everything is like usual except that this method installs quicker. Nebular electronics DigiTv Card

Hello, Has anyone managed to get this wonderful card working under Suse? The clever guys at linuxtv.org have, but all of their instructions are based around vanilla kernel builds. I spent about a week with 8.2 constantly recompiling this and that without a great deal of success - 9 has the km_v4l2 package which seems to include all the bits that they want you to patch on to a vanilla. Am I right in thinking that for the packages in /usr/src/kernel-modules you just enter each sub package then make && make install them? dvb-kernel gives me lots of unresolved symbols if i do this & end up with two different versions of bttv.o hanging about. In plain it doesn't work! Any ideas? So much trouble just to watch tv! Robin

Problem getting a new glibc to compile

I'm trying to run Mozilla's new email client Thunderbird. I get errors that I need GLIBC 2.3. I compiled and installed GCC 3.3.2, then tried to compile GLIBC 2.3. It refuses to compile. Largefile support on SUSE

Hi, I have Suse 7.3 with kernel 2.4.19 compiled by my own, and i want to create a 5GB file. I use the command: dd if=/dev/zero of=largefile bs=1024k count=5120 and this is the answer that i get: dd: writing `largefile': File too large 2049+0 records in 2048+0 records out ls -h 2.0G largefile I try as root and as normal user. Network card reconfig fails in YAST on SUSE 9.0

Hi All, Just installed 9.0 and noticed something strange when trying to reconfigure a nic card using YAST. If you go into the control center -> yast modules -> network, and select change your currently configured card, it will bring you to the page to change the settings but won't allow you to do anything. You can't erase or type anything new in the config fields. I've experienced this on 2 SUSE 9.0 machines which leads me to think it's a bug? Anyone else seen this? Nautilus crashes in /home and /root

SuSE-list, I hope you can help me finding an answer or two to a question I have. Please let me know if it already has been answered or if it's old or anything else inapropriate. I run SuSE Pro 9.0 and Gnome. When I try to display "Properties" of any subfolder, hidden or not hidden, in /home as user or in /root as root, Nautilus crashes -- it splashes a dialog where I can choose to either close the program or submit a bug-report, and after that Nautilus re-appears again as if nothing has happened. Showing "Properties" of any file, hidden or not hidden, works fine both as user and root. And to my knowledge it works fine showing "Properties" of any file or folder in any other folder than /home or /root. How can this be? Any ideas? Yours, Lars Norén
