gtk+ error

I am trying to compile a program but it says that gtk+-devel >= 1.2.7 is needed by easytag-0.30-1 I've just installed gtk2-devel-2.2.3-27 What adjustments do I need to make in order to get it to work? (I think that gtk2 is the SUSE equivalent for gtk+ but you can correct me if I'm wrong). Thanks Eddie

I have a Canon BJC 4000, and it prints... well, acceptable. The Canon company does not support Linux, neither actively nor passively (ie, they does not suply programming info to the developers). Thus, SuSE can not say that they support their hardware. What we have has been donde by reverse engineering, I understand. Nevertheles, my Canon works. I have some problems, because the drivers are imperfect (one prints wonderfull and fast text, but horrible unusable photos, the other (gimp) prints correctly but slowly). But reading the manual - my printer is old and has a real paper manual of 160 pages, including some programming info - states that the printer can be used as an Epson LQ-2550 as well. I will try this out soon. I guess that in your case - I don't really know your model - it will also emulate some other epson printer , and then your manual should say so. Meanwhile you could use CUPS (browse to http://localhost:631/) and try to adjust your printer configuration. There is a test page there: try it, see if it comes out correctly or not. There are at least a driver that claims to be your exact printer, and some others I suppose are similar. -- Saludos Carlos Robinson

Now what you say is that the time was simply set wrong -- that is a very different issue, and a known one when you boot both into Linux and windows on the same machine, and has nothing to do with the battery. SuSE7.2. Using authenticated smtp smart relay from sendmail ?

I running a sendmail relaying mail server under SuSE 7.2 and it works great. However, a growing number of places are only accepting mail connections from registered servers so I've had to start relaying some outgoing mail via my ISP. I'm using /etc/mail/mailertable to relay outgoing mail via my ISPs smtp server. My mailertable looks like this: supanet.com smtp:smtp.ntlworld.com aol.com smtp:smtp.ntlworld.com netscape.net smtp:smtp.ntlworld.com tiscali.co.uk smtp:smtp.ntlworld.com excite.com smtp:smtp.ntlworld.com Connections to all other addresses go direct. I add to the mailertable each time I have trouble sending to particular address. This has worked so far. Unfortunately my ISP is NTL and their mail servers are frequently screwed and it can take anything up to 40 or 50 attempts to actually get outgoing e-mail to send. I have my domain hosted by One and One and they also provide an smtp relaying host but it uses account/password authentication. Is is possible to configure sendmail to work with the One and One smtp host ? If so, could anyone point me in the direction of a suitable howto ? Routing problem

Hi, My network gets IP from server (DHCP), eg. 141.183.155.99 with Subnet 255.255.248.0 The problem is, 1. I can ping to outside IP, eg. 141.183.101.55 2. BUT I can't ping to same Subnet, eg. 141.183.155.100 Is there anything I miss out? Thx,

Has anyone any informatin regarding the use of dbmail under SuSE? This is a imap/pop server that uses a database to store the email. It looks like an excellent alternative to cyrus-imap (too complex) and uw-imap (no maildir support) to provide a high performance mail server.

[suse-kde] Konqueror Can't Handle HTML?

Konqueror seems to have suddenly lost the plot. Now when I try to open an html link it displays a message asking if I want open or save the file, but if I select open it displays the following nonsense: "There appears to be a configuration error. You have associated Konqueror with text/html, but it can't handle this file type." I don't recall changing any file associations or other configurations recently, but obviously I must have done something to upset Konqueror. Can anyone offer any suggestions where I should start looking to resolve Konqueror's memory loss?
