What do I need to do to adjust SuSEFirewall2 to allow ntp connections to correct my local clock? I have xntpd running and have set locations to check the clock. But I am getting the following ??UANLLOWED?? entries in my firewall log: this is ONE line: Jul 30 08:00:13 wahoo kernel: SuSE-FW-UNALLOWED-TARGETIN=eth0 OUT= MAC=00:**mac address:00 SRC=24.30.200.3 DST=192.168.0.2 LEN=188 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=246 ID=34023 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=53 DPT=1027 LEN=168 Doesn't this mean that the firewall is not allowing access? & How do I change to allow updating my clock?? tks, -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org

missing handbooks

I just looked at the current YOU list and the KDE 3.0.2 updates were missing. Does this mean a fix is in progress for the missing handbooks? Henry -- When I discovered Linux I also discovered that I didn't need Microsoft anymore. SuSE 8.0 Linux user # 95851

Hi, I agree with you, and would add that I think many users feel the need of troubleshooting assistance when something goes wrong, e.g. with Yast2. This mailing list is an example for helping out, as is http://susefaq.sourceforge.net/, http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/, http://www.netsys.com/suse-linux-e/, http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=alt.os.li… . The SuSE 8.0 manuals have now also included some troubleshooting. Many users want shortcut solutions when something does not work, but don't know where to find it, and gets confused when the documentation is not covering their problem. I think if the Unofficial SuSE Faq(http://susefaq.sourceforge.net/ , https://sourceforge.net/projects/susefaq/ ) gets real backup from this mailing lists' members, it would be a great resource for all SuSE users. Can't change login screen

I played around with the Login manager in the Control Center (SLES 7) and tried different login screen configurations. Now I'm stuck and can't change the login screen anymore. I go to the login manager (as root of course), and make changes to the settings. But after restarting the x-server and even rebooting the machine, the changes take no effect. Mustek MFC-600S scanner

has anyone had success using this scanner w/ linux? from what i've read in the sane manual pages, it should work.........however has anyone succeeded in using the scsi adapter board that comes with it? i can't get my pc to recognize the board (ISA).........it has NO IRQ jumpers on it. How to change default source for YOU?

Hi! Im running wget to download the patches that YOU uses to update my SuSE 8.0 boxes. I thought this is a better solution then having 3-5 different computers going out to the FTP servers separately. It works great. But... Every time I want YOU to update my computers I have to change source. On the server, where the update files are, I change to "hard disk" and then enter the directory. On the clients I change to "Network" enter the address to the server and the directory. Is there a way to reconfigure YOU so that I don't have to change the path to the update directory? And if it's possible to stop YOU to go out to get a list of FTP sites it would also be a good idea because I don't need it. TIA /Nils-Olov
