My apologies, this should be my last test message. I'm writing this one with mail rather than with mutt or pine to see if it works correctly with it and to see if my problem is a sendmail problem or a mail client problem.

mount question

Hi How in the world do I set the mount to use user 10000? I have a situation, where I'm setting a backup-script for my laptop. I have same user-id in both linux-box. Then I need to copy also the e-mails, that has bits set only for owner. So, I need to mount the remote with that user-id to be able to copy those files... But no, there is just no way I can find out what the man-page is saying. It clearly says, that I can mount with a certain user-id, but it just wont come clear how! I have read my brains out reading the man-page, that that man-page really smell! Wonder if anyone could write the man-page in plain text... Jaska.

I manually configure loopback with "ifconfig lo 127.0.0.1" but this seems to be lost after every reboot. How can I set this permanently with SuSE 7.3 i386? Thank You, Anthony

Konqueror/Networking Problems

I'm having some very annoying problems with file access via konqeror (hangs) and networking (ie; browser cannot find "http://localhost" - I know apache is running and "/etc/hosts" has "localhost" map) which prompted my research into log files. Also, I can't load up KDE desktop without first pulling out my network card before logging in or it hangs. I just updated to XFree2.0 and I see errors there as well. Could someone please look at the attached ".xsession.errors" file and advise me, if you don't mind? (SuSE7.3_2.4.16-22 kernel; 256meg RAM; 12 GB harddrive; KDE/Konq 2.2.2) Thank You, Anthony

Multi Kernel configuration question

Hi to all listmates. I'm to recompile a new kernel for a SuSE 7.2 server to upgrade from 2.4.7 kernel to 2.4.16. I ever have had a doubt: I got a /boot/vmlinuz.2.4.7 and /boot/vmlinuz.2.4.16 kernel. Can I overvrite the old System.map with new generated one? And if i would use again the old kernel? Is it compatible with the new System.map? If not, Can I tell Lilo to load System.map-2.4.7 for /boot/vmlinuz.2.4.7 and System.map-2.4.16 for /boot/vmlinuz.2.4.16 ? I hope my english is clear. Hi everybody, This is my first time here and see how effective is. I just want to know how to use yast2 so that I could switch or change from operate system and both should still on or active. I have win and linux 7.3 on the same harddrive. I'm working at an internet caffe. If clients don't have idea about linux then I just want to get the win OS without re-start and put linux back when that client is gone.
