I was just gonna try VMware. I downloaded the compressed tar version 2.0.3 for Linux hosts. You can't get it to install under 7.1. The question of their perl install script: What is the directory under which the init scripts reside (it should contain init.d/, and from rc0.d/ to rc6.d/)? /etc/init.d The path "/etc/init.d" is a directory which does not contain a init.d directory. local config

RE: suse 7.1 How can local configuration options such as alias blah 'blahblah' be done, and WHERE? Also, where are my boot commands for ipx_configure and ncpmount supposed to be placed. I have scoured the documentation and all the .rc files I can find for where these commands can be implemented. Here is what the rc.config file has to say ---------------------------------------- # # /etc/rc.config # # Copyright (c) 1996,98 SuSE GmbH Nuernberg, Germany. Correct .tar.gz file for Kernel Upgrade?

Hi Group: I want to upgrade my kernel from the current 2.2.16 to 2.4.3. I downloaded file "linux-2.4.3.tar.gz" from http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.4/ and I was wondering if someone could confirm the following: 1) is this the right file, 2) is this the only file I need to properly upgrade my kernel, and 3) would you recommend using an rpm (or some other kind of zipped format) because it will jive better with Suse 7.0? Mozilla and Java

Has anyone gotten java to work with Mozilla? It keeps prompting me to download the java plugin but it fails when I try. I have java.1.1.8 installed. That works with Konqueror.
