SuSEconfig: libexpat.so.1 is not a symbolic link

Hi, whenever I run SuSEconfig, I get this error: ... /sbin/ldconfig: /usr/lib/libexpat.so.1 is not a symbolic link ... Is this a problem? What 's wrong? I see at other places some problems, and I start to think about a relation. I have in /usr/lib/ the following files, they are really not sym links. libexpat.so 127.1 KB libexpat.so.1 127.1 KB libexpat.so.1.2 127.1 KB all with the date of May 11 2001, I guess they had been installed automatically when I installed Linux. I'm running SuSE 7.2 prof. Updated to kde2.2.2, first with qt 2.3.2, but after an extremely slow konqueror etc. back to the original qt 2.3.0. and then update to qt 2.3.1 using the rpm from trolltec. This question is coming up as a result of my DMA error messages. Is there a complete list of all possible append entries which can exist in lilo.conf? The man page is woefully deficient in this area. Again, thanks Joshua for your help with the DMA error messages. Jim

CD-R Frustration - progress

Well, I seem to have narrowed my problem down to cdda2wav. SO I can't use it or the GUIs that front-end it. I have been successful creating data CDs with mkisofs and cdrecord, and copying data CDs with dd and cdrecord. I have been successful reading audio tracks with cdparanoia, and reading an entire audio CD with cdrdao. But since I'm not really interested right now in copying CDs or making custom audio CDs, I haven't bothered to waste a disk by burning these tracks. Next step: Finding audio recorder tools, so I can create .wav or .au from analog inputs. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Hi: I got a "core" file in my home directory...it comes from a core dump, right?? Now how do I "analyze" that file?? it is 1.6mb so its kind of big, I tried using gdb once but it didnt feel the expectations...perhaps doing a hexdump?? What is the best way to analyze a piece of memory(core) and extract usefull info of it?? Thanks, Raul

Ah, another telocity customer. Ok, here's what I can suggest: 1) make sure /etc/resolv.conf has sensible nameserver addresses in it. Test again. 2) find out from telocity tech support what the default route ip on that gateway is. AFAICT, it is one higher than the assigned IP address you have, e.g. your addr is 68.120.120.111, then the default gw is 68.120.120.112 Be certain that you have such in your routing table. You can see from the output of /sbin/route -n. /sbin/ifconfig will allow you to add the default gateway entry if you do not have it. For future use, add it to /etc/route.conf Luck. Netiquette

I was just wondering what happened to the netiquette that Phillip was talking about? There are a few items in that that seems necessary to point out every now and then. PLEASE people: don't start a new thread by hitting reply to an old message and changing the subject! It fundamentally fscks up the mailer's threading. It makes it very difficult to search for old messages/threads. I'm left with my mailer's search function! Please! regards Anders

Firewall Log Overload!

Is there a way to limit or control the logging with SuSEfirewall2? I have left the firewall configuration at the default, which is; FW_LOG_DROP_CRIT="yes" # FW_LOG_DROP_ALL="no" # FW_LOG_ACCEPT_CRIT="yes" # FW_LOG_ACCEPT_ALL="no" # # only change/activate this if you know what you are doing!
