No DCOP server for user account - Help

Earlier today, while trying to give some applications more permission so as to enable all the features, or so i was hoping. I found that I couldn't login to my usual user account. It would just start and then return to kdm login. Then I deleted all in the tmp dir and reinstalled kde2.2 and now I have no DCOP. The s-link is in the dir but no DCOP. Can someone tell me how to fix this problem?!?! TIA. Curtis

/var/spool/mail on NFS

I have the following scenario: I have a SuSE 7.2 machine that exports /var/spool/mail I have a mix of Irix servers that mount /var/spool/mail and write to the mail files. I have been getting corrupted mail files lately. This all happened when I moved the mail server to a Red Hat 7.2 system. Due to NFS problems I went back to SuSE. The main problem is that before when I was running SuSE 7.0 I did not get corrupt mail files, but now, since I reverted back to SuSE, I went with version 7.2 and noe I am getting occasional corrupt mail files. Hi Guys I have the same problem. My Zip drive is the USM 100Mb version. Fstab says /dev/sda4 /media/zip auto no auto, user 0 0. However when I click on the zip icon I get mount: /dev/sda4: unknown device. If I try and mount /media/zip I get the same error. The xconsole is showing an error message stating 'can't locate module block-major-8. Can anyone shed some light on this please. Thanks Mark A

Hi, Your instructions were the right medicine for my vmware and it is now happily running with the 2.4.9 kernel. Thanks alot! I used the files in vmware-ws-1142-for-2.4.7.tar.gz and also did make in vmnet-only dir and ran runtime.pl in addition to vmmon. mount: /dev/sda4: unknown device

When I click on the KDE zip icon in order to mount my zip drive using 7.2 I get the message 'unknown device'. My fstab says that /dev/sda4 is to be mounted on /mnt/usbzip. Anyone have any clues? Thanks,

Printing from QT Designer

I was trying to print one of the tutorials from Help in QT Designer, but it does not work. Basically, nothing happens. When I tell it to print, it pauses for a few seconds (like you would expect just before printing), but then.....nothing. No error messages, nada. Using the same printer, I can print for other applications, so I know printing in general is working. BTW, I'm usind lpd, not cups. Anyone have any experience w/ printing from QT Designer? Any and all insights would be appreciated! pop3 proxy and smtp proxy, smtp not working

Hi I'm using at my work 7.2 as a ADSL-router box with proxy between Internet and LAN. I have squid running, and for e-mail I use pop3 proxy and smtp proxy. The squid and pop3 works okay, but for some reason the smtp does not. (can't send e-mails, but reading is working perfectly). Firewall does not give any "errors", nor does the smtp with -d (debug) option. Window$ outlook gives error something like "error code 0x8xxxxxx".. very informative :-( I don't have access to the system now (home), sorry for this little piece of information. Any succestions where to look for?
