RAID support for Promise controller with SuSE

Just thought I would pass this on. I just built a power machine and wanted to use RAID with SuSE. I have a SOYO SY-K7V Dragon moboard that uses the Promise chipset for the IDE controller. I was discouraged to see that SuSE support indicated that if the entire disks space was not recognized during install then the driver shipped did not support the chipset. Checking the Promise website only showed a driver for RedHat. They must have heard my cries for help because the very next day they had a driver for SuSE 7.x. Running RAID 0 with hdparms -t and -T of 64MB in 1.93 sec = 33.16 MB/sec 128MB in 0.65 sec = 196.92 MB/sec The website is: http://support.promise.com/Linux/Default.htm PCHintz

Geforce 3

Anybody out there using a GeForce 3 card under SuSE 7.2 and seeing the same problem. After going into an X-session and logging out, when I Ctrl-Alt-F1 to another terminal (graphical boot-up screen) it fails to display. Also, then fails to display this screen during shutdown. I have a laptop with a GeForce 2 GO card and using the older ver 1251 NVIDIA drivers it works fine. However when updating the drivers to ver 1541 it also showed the same symptom. I put the old driver back on to fix it. However using the older, or new driver with the GeForce 3 doesn't allow it to switch to a virtual terminal.

Hi fellows, I am stuck in this problem: I bought a mainboard from somewhere without manuals, without nothing. Now, I need to know (for a BIOS update) what manufactor is behind that board. Is there any Linux tool that can read that data out for me? can't open or paste into netscape from kmail

Howdy. I'm running 7.2, and I normally use netscape as opposed to konquerer. I receive mail from my work that I need to be able to view and bookmark in netscape. When I click on a link in an email (in Kmail), konquerer opens up and displays the page. I do have the choice of selecting netscape to view the page, but when I do this, netscape opens my start page, only. The link I clicked on never comes up. Ok, fine, I'll simply copy the link to the clipboard and paste it into netscape --- except that netscape thinks that the clipboard is empty. Any suggestions as to what I can do to solve my problem? Thanks :)

xf86-4.1.0-48 Konsonle and kmail past problems.

I applied the most recent XF86 updates lastnight and have since noticed that the fonts in konsole (an already ailing application) are overlapping and almost impossible to read. xterm OTOH is still going strong. I've also noticed that pasting a URL into a kmail compose window causes the display not to respond to keystrokes. I found that mousing between windows will free up the display, and allow me to continue working. Nonetheless, there does seem to be a problem. Steven -- Open Source Software depends on your support.
