netscape problems

I'm running netsacpe version netscape-4.75-13.i386.rpm Which is suppose to be the right one for xfree 4.02. I'm geeting some pages displaying rather wierd such as SuSE's home page. The nav bar at the top is the right size but the links such as "Installation Support" are huge. I mean huge. They are bigger than the nav bar. The whole page will not fit on my moniter with 1600x1200 resolution. If i reduce my font size to "0" it gets better but still is big, but other pages are to small now. I usaully have it set at 18 points which works fine on most pages except SuSE's and one other at this time. Any idea as to why this is. Do i have to go back to the other version of netscape. Netscape 4.74

Hi, First off, thanks to those that answered my LILO / floppy problem. Ok, Konqueror is quite nice, but still I've got Netscape installed with Suse 7.0 (came with it, right) and when I load it up, first it displays a Netscape page, then the Suse page (I think from the Apache server) and then waits for input ....Then when I press a key, Netscape vanishes. Meaning I can't use Netscape! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that hosed down KDE 2.01 so I just reinstalled KDE 2.01 but Netscape is still behaving this way... Can anyone help me? It'll be nice to make Netscape work... (obviously my heart is crying out 'it'll be super duper to get Internet Exporer 5.5 to work' but ofcourse, that's next to impossible...he he) Thanks in advance. XFree 4.02 problems seem solved

I a round about way i seem to have gotten version 4.02 to work with my ATI All-In-Wonder 128 Pro Card. Kinda weird how it just worked. I install Accerated X server for this card and it worked fine accept ones has to buy it. Then out of the blue today i tried Sax2 and it did something and asked if was fine. Only answer was yes. Start X and there was the screen and everything, then re ran "xf86config" to set up the moniter right and it now works. Anyone runnig SuSE on VALINUX hardware?

I just inherited a large network with several VA-Linux boxes running Red Hat 6.2. <SYMPATHY> Smile </SYMPATHY> New to VA-Linux boxes and not having one that I can scratch and play with yet, has anyone put SuSE 7 on one of these beasts? The model is a Full On 2230. You would think the hardware would not matter but a semi-technical buddy told me that VA-Linux has some kind of firmware, much like Sun and other high-end servers. Any insight is greatly appreciated, CC

Questions about 7.0 Cable modem and Networking...

Hello, I had a working system setup. One Linux (SuSE 7.0), 2 win98se, 1 win95 machine and a win 95 laptop. I connected to the internet via a 56k modem and the Linux box shared this with the other machines (via masquerade). I now have a Cable modem that under win89 uses a dynamic IP address and DHCP for WIN resolution. To get this to work I have setup an identical nic card to handle the Cable modem. (I plan to switch to earthlink DSL when it arrives in my area so I figure the same setup will work with either with just a need to plug in the DSL when it arrives.) At this time I am able to get both network cards to work in the machine. However Yast2 will only access the first card even though it shows two cards in its menu. Yast1 shows both cards properly. eth0 is going to be the cable modem and eth1 is now the network link. without dchp client setup on eth0 BOTH cards come up and can be viewed via ipconfig. However Samba does not work nor does anything else seem to work. I normally use 192.168.0.10 as the Linux machine ip address. at the moment I have eth0 setup as 192.168.0.11 and eth1 is at 192.168.0.10. IF however I turn on the dhcp client via yast1 for the eth0 interface (Still has ip 192.168.0.11) then eth0 does NOT show up in the ifconfig. During the boot screen it does show loading dhcp client on eth0 however and has a timeout after a couple minutes. (At the moment I do NOT have the modem plugged in.) But yet it does NOT show a eth0 device under ifconfig. It does show the eth1 device under ifconfig however. I have changed the S05dhclient to S06dhclient in both the rc2.d and rc3.d directories per directions on the SuSE site. With the eth0 setup with dhcp client and eth1 using the 192.168.0.10 address it does work fine with samba. If I change eth0 to 192.168.0.10 and plug the cable into that card then samba also works then. Is the loosing of the eth0 from ipconfig normal when using the dhclient flag? My next step is to plug in the modem into eth0 and see if it will work.. I am using charter communications as my cable modem provider. Thanks! I'm trying to install the package lirc-0.6.2 from lirc.org. It won't compile because they say from their FAQ: ----------------------------------------------------------------- .When I try to compile LIRC on SuSE 7.0 I get this error message. Please use a standard kernel that you can download from kernel.org. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm not running 7.0 but 6.4 with 2.2.16_SuSE kernel. I really would prefer to use SuSE's kernel as opposed to a vanilla kernel from kernel.org. Is there any way around this problem without using the vanilla kernel sources? How can I find it? the old insmod imm doesn't do anything now, presumably because it's built into the kernel but . . . the drive does activate during the boot process when it is found but the boot.msg doesn't tell me where it is.
