I saw this package on freshmeat and went to check it out. The first line follows: ####################################################### Newsflash: Mondo doesn't work on SuSE 6.4 because SuSE 6.4 has an incomplete Glibc package. [SLE] loop devices

Hello! I have a problem with loop devices. I made one with mknod command mknod loop8 b 7 8 chown root.disk loop8 There were only 7 loop devices under /dev directory and I need more. But when I tried to mount an iso file mount -o loop file.iso dir_name then I have got the message : mount : could not find any free loop device then I tried mount -o loop=/dev/loop8 file.iso dir_name then I have got the message : /dev/loop8 : no such device. Does anyone know how to solve the problem? Thank you! Iyi gunler! [SLE] SuSE 7.0 Upgrade Verion.

Having been a user of SuSE Linux since your 5.1 distritution I find that the lack of information regarding how your UK users proceed about purchasing of the above mentioned Upgrade Version. I have been in contact with my long-standing provider The Linux Emporium who can only say that the Upgrade Version is only to be available from SuSE themselves, but this is being argued about. Although I will get your Version 7.0, as in my opinion SuSE distributions are streets ahead of the opposition, I do not think that if there is an upgrade route available then I should not have to purchase the Full Professional Version. I do think that some attention should be paid to keeping your customers well informed, and not getting the few snippets coming through 'rumour control'. Good customer relations engenders both contented and satisfied customers. I look forward to an informative and satisfactory reply. [SLE] Partition types

The fdisk program has an option for listing the possible partition types. However, the columns aren't wide enough and the names of the types are truncated. Where can I find a correct listing of the types? Even better, where can I find an explanation of them? For instance, there are three different types for extended partitions: 5 Extended f Windows 95 Extended 85 Linux extended Why is that, and what's the best one to use for a multi-OS disk? [SLE] 6.4+Geforce2GTS32MB+newbie

Hello, I'm a newbie, old but willing to undo windoze, specially for my son. About 3 months running 6.4 - great - not a good unix user but can manage. Sorry for that introduction but I would like my son to use SuSE. To do so, I have 2 problems : 1. X : ( card geforce2 GTS ) During the installation yast2 gives me a Fbdev driver or something like that. This gives me a xf86.config file. I managed to upgrade to XFree4(2nd disk). Then I tried to install the nv driver with sax2. Hopeless ( to many parameters ). Sometimes I even get a black screen. Since I myself work with suse6.4 and a geforce DDR, I cann't understand why that geforce2 GTS doesn't work.I read a lot of it for redhat but couldn't find for Suse. My questions are : - where to begin correctly - how to install the nvidia drivers ( suppose upgrading to X4.01 ) - how to install the glx nvidia - Do I need to first upgrade to another kernel? - Do I need to insmod agpart module first and howtodothat. 2. Quake 3 : Only having a working area isn't so exciting for a young boy. I tried to get quake3 working with my card but it fails.(very very slow, the mouse isn't responding or very badly etc... ) I suppose the installation is different in suse than in other distributions. My question is : Once I fixed question 1 how do I install properly quake 3 in SuSE6.4 I really thank you for any advise. [SLE] DVD's

Anybody out there using a DVD player with SuSE 6.4, 2.2.14. If so, how well do you like it ? and is there a suggested speed? I was looking at a memorex 6x DVD 32x cdrom. It was $99 dollars at a local Office Depot. Hi, have you used Sax2 to set up your config file? Also, try running 'XFree86 -configure' to generate a baseline config file. Also, don't worry about the Speedo fault, mine wouldn't work either. But, as mentioned below, you REALLY need to look at the log file. You will probably find some clues there. My guess, is a hosed config file, providing the driver is without issues.
