Hello, Juergen, ~ thanks to your help, I am making progress :) .. . . can now echo "huhu" OK, and, collect time from local time-server, and, write time to hardware clock. This is, still, a spot of bother, with getting up my "pmfirewall" ~ seems to me, that, maybe, ip-up is putting up my firewall, before I am properly logged on to my ISP by dial-up connection. ~ then the log-on process gets blocked. Therefore, I wondered if I should try to tell "ip-up" to WAIT 45 seconds, and THEN call pmfirewall . . . can you, please, tell me how this can be done ? thanks best wishes Richard _________ ____________ sent on Linux ____________ This Email is 100% Virus Free! Wondering if anyone is using Kicq? It is the closest one that I know of to the Windows version. Question is : what is the server address. In Windows I am using 'login.icq.com' . In Kicq that doesn't seem to work. It never connects. Hi everyone, I was "browsing" over at the Dell site, and I was just wondering if anyone know how compatible the Dell Inspiron 3800 series (the one with the ESS Maestro 3i series sound card and 600MHz Intel Pentium III Speedstep CPU) is with Linux and ALSA? Mainly, I just was wonder how compatible that sound card is with OSS or perferably ALSA, and how well it's ATI 2x AGP 8MB RAGE MobilityM-1 3D video card would work with X 3.3.6 or 4.01? Hello, 1. Do you need a dummy device set up? if so, (someone correct me if i'm wrong) it shouldn't be the same IP as eth0. If you don't need the dummy, disable in Yast (change configuration file) 2. Try netmask of 255.255.255.0 3. There's nothing wrong with your modules, or your NIC, or anything else, other than a hosed configuration.
