[SLE] need some opinions

I have two questions, one is for my personal benefit the other is for a system I'm setting up for work. The first is, what in your opinions is the best way to make a linux box running pine and a windows box running whatever to share the same mail folders for particular users? My guess would be imap, but I'm wondering what others may think. The second is, I'm wondering if theres a reliable aim or icq server type program available to install on a box so that I might allow users in the department to use to communicate with each other. I don't want it to be internet dependent as there are only 3 users in the department that have internet access. The kernel based server is known to choke sometimes. Thanks to all who replied. I have checked everything suggested. The ethernet is fine. I'm using masquerading from the desktop to provide a connection to the cable modem for the laptop, and that's working fine. I've restarted both RCP and the nfsserver several times and tried the user space version of the latter. I'm still experimenting but any other hints greatly appreciated! Over all.....VERY nice job, SuSE! I still can't use any screen savers that are GL (was the same with the "old" KDE), have 3dFX Voodoo 3 3000 AGP....screws up the video something wicked! I'm becoming fond of Kmail, if for no other reason, I don't have to fight with Netscape. :) The 7.0 updates have made KDE2 a LOT more stable....good job! The clock, however, SHOULD be able to be a 12hr. clock, showing AM/PM. [SLE] Diamond Monster Fusion / Weird monitor behaviour

Hi All! I have a Diamond Monster Fusion graphics card on my pentium3-500Mhz system. It is working under X but sometimes (can't reproduce it, it doesn't always happen) when I exit X to go back to the command line, the monitor (samsung Syncmaster 17GLSi) puts itself on standby. It also happens sometimes when starting X (enlightenment/gnome) Any ideas? Is there a good driver available (couldn't find any on the web) Or has anyone of you maneged to solve this weird problem? [SLE] NFS problem

I'm trying to access my home desktop computer from my laptop through NFS. I think I have everything set up correctly on both machines, but when I try to mount a directory I get this message: mount: RPC: Program not registered Can anybody explain what this means and what I do about it?
