[SLE] Help REQUIRED XKeyboard

hello i have installed linux suse v6.4 on as a guest system with vmware on my nt4 wks the problem that i face is that i have been able to select the proper keyboard layout for my shell which is fi-latin1 now since vmware installs its own XF86Config file it is not possible (correct me if im wrong) to configure X through SAX so i had to manually feed the keyboard layout parameter in the XF86Config file the sad story is that even though the correct parameters are in the file x still does not load the proper keyboard layout and i end up with the default xkeyboard ivr tried to change the keyboard settings also from KDE control center but this has not helped the only thing that i can suspect is that x is not loading the proper keyboard mapping even though its in the XF86Config file can any one help me with this so i can start using my Xlinux?? thanks for all the help in advance regards Mat -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe(a)suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help(a)suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

I am curious about how SuSE will deliver in the future. I always thought one single offer with 600 page book was not always useful. I would have never bought SuSE's full version again in the future because I already have 2 SuSE manuals sitting here. I don't need a third. I actually gave both away to a friend because I rather read the bare how-tos and SuSE's book doesn't go in such detail as I may need it. I believe it will be helpful to have a slim and a pro version. Pro will not mean it will be for professionals but it will include more stuff. I will go for the slim stuff avoiding another copy of a book I already have a version off. [SLE] Kppp

I recently updated some KDE programmes via rpms and now none of my users can dial out kppp gives an error of "sorry can't create lock file". User root *can* dial out, so I think I've screwed up permissions somewhere. Can anyone put me right? I used YaST to install my system. Now I went to configure sound using YaST2. The command YaST invokes YaST when im in my konsol. However, I can't find any command to use Y2. I found the program installed in /lib/YaST2. Of course its the graphical install of the whole SuSE system. I just want to configure sound.
