[SLE] Problem installing SCSI card & tape drive.

Adaptec 2930 & HP SureStore, trying to get to work with BRU. System does not seem to see the SCSI drive at all & tape will not mount. Any suggestions or resources welcomed. [SLE] `ldd' - final message on strange diagnostics

Hi again, SuSE people. OK, here is my third and last message about strange diagnostics coming out of `ldd'. ldd btoa mbeep produces, on this SuSE 6.4 system: btoa: : can't load dynamic linker '/lib/ld.so' not a dynamic executable mbeep: : can't load dynamic linker '/lib/ld.so nor /usr/i486-linux/lib/ld.so' not a dynamic executable The bizarre thing is the diagnostic about the inability to load a dynamic linker (so meaning that the dynamic linker was somehow needed), combined with the statement that the binary is not a dynamic executable. This looks contradictory to me. Note that those are quite old binaries. The command `file btoa mbeep' says: btoa: Linux/i386 demand-paged executable (ZMAGIC), stripped mbeep: Linux/i386 demand-paged executable (QMAGIC), stripped In case useful, here is a compressed archive containing these two files, made so this message stays reasonably short. I'm not at all asking that `ldd' supports old binary formats. Hello all, I'm having a helluva time installed Wordperfect 8 on 6.4. After saying yes to the "Not certified for 2.2.14" question I get a ton of script errors. >Fromreading the archives I've found the suggestions of making sure you have the old bash and old libraries installed. I also saw the suggestion that the install files may be corrupt but since I re-installed on 6.3 last night that is not the problem. Dennis Soper hinted in an unrelated thread that he had figured out why he was having problems. I assume it's just an install script problem. Any more suggestions for tonight would be great. Hi, SuSE people. Still around `ldd', I found out that: ldd origip yields, on this SuSE 6.4 system: /usr/bin/ldd: ./origip: No such file or directory even when the file exists. Here is that file, uuencoded, hoping that the problem will reproduce for you. I have many files producing the above misleading diagnostic, I merely picked the smallest of these files. Greetings. I've a pile of trouble convincing a Voodoo3 3000 to work it's evil Voodoo magic in SuSE 6.2. A while ago there was a post on the topic in response to a mail I sent about the Voodoo and an SB Live. I'm grateful for the response as it has helped.. somewhat. The Voodoo *does* work it's magic a little bit. For example I've built a recent version of xlock against the MesaGL libs and the 3dfx modes work pretty well (tho one or two are slow as shi*t). However, kewl things like quake2 constantly misbehave. Some deatils: I've installed glide and mesa stuff from the SuSE 6.2 CDs. I've also grabbed the 3dfx device source and rebuilt it for my currently kernel. Everything starts up, but there is a problem: No textures. The walls and other surroundings have textures, but the characters (enemies, etc) do not. They look like white crash test dummies. :p Any ideas what could be a problem here? Also, gl_mode 6 is 1024x768. I tried gl_mode 3 which is 640x480 and that was even worse. Screen looked like rainbow static. :) Any help would be appreciated as usual! [SLE] Error while trying to install YaST on Mac G3

I have encountered an error while trying to install v6.4 of SuSE PowerPC Linux on my beige G3 (System 8.6). I've partitioned the hard disk with a Mac format Linux boot partition and two unallocated partitions for Swap and Linux. I started the install from BootX App on CD 1 - it says CD 4 in the manual but I couldn't find BootX App on CD 4. I left the video driver checkbox unticked and typed 'ide0=noautotune' into the 'more kernel arguments' box as in the manual. Everything seems to go fine, up comes the penguin etc and I'm in the Linuxrc v1.1.6 window as in figures 2.4/5/6 and 2.7 in the manual. In figure 2.7 'choosing text or graphical YaST', no matter which I choose it loads a RAM disk then I get the error message 'an error occurred during install'. Any idea what might be the problem and how I go about solving it? [SLE] Netscape plugin

I just upgraded Netscape 4.7 to 4.73 on my SuSE6.3 box and now when I do a "about:plugins" I get this error: ERROR: /optnetscape//plugins/cpPack1.jar.old: invalid ELF header Can't load plugin /opt/netscape//plugins/cpPack1.jar.old. Ignored. What plugin is this exactly? I've got a cpPack1.jar as well as a cpPack1.jar.old in the plugins dir so should I just delete the cpPack1.jar.old? Thanks for any help. -- B. L.
