Same as NT and Windows 98 and Windows 95 and DOS....... Just configure LILO to boot from the hard drive your Win2k installation is on. If your Win2k installation was on the first partition of the primary master hard drive then select /dev/hda1 If it is on the first partition of your secondary slave (as you said, hdd) then point it to /dev/hdd1. Your "Hello World" PHP script should look like: <? echo "Hello World"; ?> Save that as helloworld.php3 in /usr/local/httpd/htdocs Now, vi /etc/httpd/httpd.conf Make sure there is a section that says <IfDefine PHP> AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php3 .php </IfDefine> Run rcapache restart And now load up http://localhost/helloworld.php3 Tada. [SLE] Upgrading from 6.3 to 6.4

Hi, I have installed SuSE 6.3 on my m/c which is a P III with Intel 810 chipset. Are there any advantages in upgrading from 6.4 to 6.4 OS?? Any performance issues in 6.4?? Or can i just upgrade my Xfree 86 version 3.3.5 to 3.3.6 or 4.0?? Can i use the 6.4 CDs for upgrading only the Xserver?? [SLE] cannot download samba rpm

Hi, I'm trying to download the latest samba rpm from the following link: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/6.4/n1/samba.rpm Istead of offering me to download it to a local directory (on my fresh install SuSE6.4) it displays the file in the browser. Is there a setting in Netscape I might need to click or maybe another solution? Ah, a trick question. Presently, no packages provide libext2fs.so (at least on mine -- SuSE 6.4/Intel). All the ext2 utils are compiled statically on 6.4. I had to pull the source RPM off my CD and re-compile the utilities to provide shared libraries. [SLE] XFree86 4.0 not Compatible with KDM

Hello SuSE, I upgraded to XFree86 4.0 from SuSE 6.2 update Thank's for provide this. My KDM (KDE DISPLAY MANAGER) work but... It's wallpaper gone It's only can choose KDE Session, other like windowmaker, enligh, afterstep, and all can't work and always go to KDE. WHY Like this..! also Why startx can't work with option like.. "startx windowmaker" "startx -- -bpp 8" Thank's !! [SLE] New motherboard Dual Pent. III

Hello. I am planning to get a new motherboard soon and would like some feedback as to the pros and cons of a dual Pentium III motherboard. Will a second cpu on the same board be useable or will it not be used? Or should I just stick with a single cpu motherboard? Thank you in advance. Sean Akers@ROMAX 27/06/2000 10:27 I'm not sure why you're have so much trouble but I expect it's because it is difficult to switch between the correct way of thinking and Bill's way of trying to have the computer think for you. SuSe 6.4 is a great package which works and works well. I don't have an opinion on YAST2 as I used YAST1 for the install (I prefer to have more control over things). If you ever read a Windows/Windows NT news group, you will find people with just as many problems as you find in this list (I know 'cos I've posted plenty of problems with MS operating systems). However, when you do get problems, there are usually more helpful replies than reboot, remove app, and reinstall OS. Linux is a bit or a paradigm shift from Windows. It does require quite a bit of reading and can be frustrating at first, like learning anything new. I suppose I had it easy as I came from 8 years of Unix programming before I got my hands on Linux for the first time. I actually find Windows and Windows NT more frustrating than Linux as they do things all by themselves and you've no idea what's going on. If you need to do anything non-standard in Windows, you're stuck, or if anything goes wrong with the registry, you're stuck. If you need to re-install the OS (due to corrupt registry) then you have to go through and re-install all the apps as well which is daft in my view. Linux/Unix takes a much more sensible approach to just about every aspect of the system. Who on Earth thought of the registry anyway ?! It seems such a stupid idea to keep all your eggs in one basket and give it a totally incomprehensible format. Microsoft should have stayed with the Windows 3.1 way of doing things with separate .ini files per application and nice easy to debug .ini files for the OS. Anyway. It IS worth the effort to learn Linux/Unix as once your system is up and running it will never fail you and never crash. I've had up-times of over 200 days on my old P166 Linux box. The machine is only ever rebooted for hardware upgrades and operating system upgrades. I use it as a 24/7 mail and news server, web proxy and masquerading firewall, network backup and for program development using my NT box as an X server. Everything just works and keeps on working which is more than can be said for my Windows NT and W98 boxes which seem to exhibit new strange behaviour every few weeks (like startup folders not working under NT when a user logs in for the 2nd time which is new behaviour that started last week for no apparent reason). Stick with it. It'll be worth it in the end. Honest.
