[SLE] Fonts Too Small in SuSE 7

In SuSE 6.4 I was able to make my fonts bigger by opening /etc/X11/fs/config and switching the entries so that the 100's come first as in: default-resolutions = 100,100,75,75 and then opening /etc/X11/XF86Config and moving the 100 dpi entries before the 75 dpi entries as in: FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled" FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled" however, in SuSE 7, the above changes seem to make no difference. [SLE] KDE2/netscape happiness

Well, here's an unexpected perk about upgrading to KDE2, if everyone remembers when downloading files in netscape the abnormally large dialog (download progress box) that appears. Now appears as a normal sized dialog box. [SLE] M18 Mozilla running as user

hey all I installed mozilla m18 as root and it runs find but I can't run it as any other user but root it gives me a seg fault other wise. I have tryed to install it as as a regular user but it won't let me. I'm using the install program that comes with it. is there something I'm missing I have tryed this on 2 different systems and have the same problem, any ideas? [SLE] wine

Is it possible to run 2 versions of wine? I installed CorelPhotopaint and it seems to use it's own version of wine. I would like to install my dos accounting progam on here and it needs wine or something simalar to run it on SuSE. So i figure i should use SuSE's version of wine for that. Is that true? One other note. could one install a full version of Win95 under wine so i could use my scanner? [SLE] Firewall/Deny Question

I'm running SuSE 7.0 (I've gone this far, why back out now and start over?), with the SuSEfirewall package that comes with it (2.6?). I'm connected to the internet via cable modem (eth0), and have an internal network of around four or five computers. The internal network interface (eth1) has the IP address of 192.168.10.1. I have the firewall instructions set up the same as they were under SuSE 6.4, but I never got messages like this. With 7.0 and the current firewall, I get a ton of them every day. Can someone clue me in as to what access is being denied? I haven't had any complaints from users yet. [SLE] how to get KDE to default to num-lock on

I've been looking for a way to have KDE come up with the num-lock activated for the login screen and when a user is in his/her desktop or in application activated from that desktop. [SLE] Sound in SuSE 7.0, then no sound.

A series of circumstances has prevented me from setting up sound for the first time in 3 years of using Linux, 2 1/2 of using SuSE. First, I thought I'd try the free option. But, alas, Alsa wouldn't setup my Yamaha chip, even when I select in in the two panels. So much for free. And, why only allow the install via YaST2 ???? Back to my old standby, OSS. On my first install of 7.0, from scratch, a week ago, I used my old OSS 3.9g tar file to install sound. Every since SuSE 5.3 getting sound going was a synch: tar the oss package and ./ the install pgm. It always found my Yamaha chip on the motherboard and set it up ok. I'd point it to my license file and put the /usr/bin/soundon program and the mic controls settings in the boot.local file. Last week it was no different. Beautiful sound. BTW, isn't xmms great! On this second reinstall of SuSE 7.0, I'd decided to use the newest from 4Front. So, I used my license number to download the Linux 2.2.x(UP) version from 4Front Technologies. Did the install routine. When I pointed it to my license file, which is good for a while yet, it said "Not valid, Aborting Installation" What? The program stayed up, but I eventually had to quit because nothing I could do with the license file would cause it to be accepted. When I returned to the command line I found, to my amazemnt, that the /opt/oss directory was gone! Vanished. Expired. Aborted indeed! "Why don't you use the OLD oss tar?" you ask. I did. It wouldn't even run. If I wanted to run a program that wasn't in a directory in the PATH variable, all I had to do was issuse "./program_name" and it would fire up. That's not always true any more, even if your logged in as root. For example, I put a bash script, get_time, in the /etc/cron.hourly directory, like I did in SuSE 6.3. #!/bin/bash ntpdate ntp2.kansas.net and made it executable. To test it I did ./get_time while in the cron.hourly directory. "Can't find the file or directory" message appeared. I never saw the message as root in SuSE 6.x, but I see it all the time in 7.0. It is as if root is not 'root'. In my first install I used YaST1, in my second Install I used YaST2 (Graphical). Is there that much difference between how the two programs arrive at a running SuSE distro? [SLE] Please Help: courier-imap 1.2.1 make check problem

Hi, I asked this question twice on the courier-imap mailing list but no one even bothered to answer, so I hope someone on the SuSE mailing list encountered (and fixed) this problem... I am trying to build courier-imap 1.2.1 on a SuSE Linux 6.3 system and I am getting the following error when I am running 'make check'. I did not specify any options to 'configure' and I am using GNU Make version 3.78.1. Any idea what might the problem be?
